Yes. Following the progressions and as long as you can maintain good form.

I have had a similar problem, but in my biceps and triceps muscles and a bit into the deltoid muscle. I am 73 and have been kiting for 16 years. I know this problem is related to riding one handed toeside and has been with me to a small degree for years. Currently it is worse than ever before. I took a month off and when I started kiting again, it came back pretty quickly. I have been riding two handed 99% of the time now, but one day I got stupid and rode quite a bit one handed, and I am paying the price. Of course age has something to do with it, but this issue can can be resolved I believe. I am in Thailand for the Winter and would love some good PT exercises, or perhaps a recommended treatment I could get done by my favorite physical therapist here.

have you ever had it hit the water and start pulling you down?
@TheOKKiteboarderАй бұрын
No. If you have to rescue it from the water it will float for a substantial period of time before becoming an anchor.

All images show the bar un-parallel to the water. keep the bar flat with the water, don't turn it as the kite turns.

As someone who had their first session on the foil yesterday, I'd say just lose the straps/hooks completely. You can never fully eliminate the risk of really nasty ankle injuries. There will be cases where even a hook can mess you up. For example yesterday I hit an underwater object (at a familiar spot where I thought it was deep enough) and got launched off the board while going 10+ mph where the board came to an immediate complete stop. Since I had no straps or hooks no damage was done. I cannot imagine how bad it could've turned out with a strap or even a hook. It's really not that hard to ride without straps. If anyone cannot ride a foil board without straps they need to first go and spend time on a strapless surfboard and learn some technique instead of relying on the straps.

i ve been riding foil kites for years in alpine lakes ,, 8-10knots and sometimes i had to swim back to shore, the good thing, is that the kite remain in the air until 5knots then will backstall. only once i had to pack the kite in the water and swim back , roll the lines to the kites, use it as a buoy and once it will slowly deflate, roll it up slowly, to keep air pressure in the remaining part, once deflated, it s rolled like at the end of a cession. for 8 knots riding and if the win will slowly die out, i usually had a small backpack with tiny pair of palms (like bodyboarding ones) and palmed gloves, it saves u energy to swim back in a drop out (LEI or foil kite), some cash and my phone if i end up on the other side of the lake ( 40km perimeter lake) for X reasons. we did some tests with friends, the kite (new kite) will take 30mn to deflate when it s in the water (calm lake , zero knots, we used a blow leafer to inflate it) 90% of launchs are hot launches (whatever the wind, snow or water) as the kite only get power once inflated (my lake launch spot has barely the deph of the lines, error margin is very small) self land: back stall against a fence (can use a human too as it will wrap around him), in low wind, i backstall it then reverse land it on the leading edge (grass or snow) and i will put the chickn loop on something and walk to the kite ( which is full depowered as u dont handle the bar), he will try to get in the ground and not fly away.
