Hi Megan & Jake WORD OF CAUTION!! I have noticed from some of your vlogs that both of you are using the same Ozone short leash I do. I dont know if either of you have ever had to deploy it but I just wanted to share an experience to keep you, and others safe. Earlier this year while in South Padre Island I experienced a kite mare that necessitated a full release utilizing that exact leash. Because of the small design of the handle when I grabbed it with a closed hand and pushed out to initiate the release, the internal stainless steel pin that swings out opened right into my left hand ring finger with such force that it actually broke my finger. If I missed some special instructions on how to deploy it shame on me but I learned the hard way if your index finger and thumb are NOT making the equivalent of an "OAKY" sign when you contact the flange on the release handle under pressure, that pin becomes VERY DANGEROUS! SOLUTION: So I dont have to think about that during an emergency I simply turned the leash around where the flange is closer to me which means I am pulling to release rather than pushing away. This eliminates the possibility of fingers getting in the way of the swinging pin. Maybe its a natural hand position for some people to only use the index and thumb to push the release away but when things get crazy I know it can be easy to forget these things so I hope this helps save someone else a broken finger or two.
