Thanks for that, Ken. It's sad that such a great event has come to an end, but amazing that the organizer managed to keep it going so long in that location. The fliers' tribute to him and his wife by flying sticked kites just pointed to how much such events have changed in that time - almost every item in the sky is now an inflatable, and most of them not even technically kites but "line laundry". It's all fine for the spectators, but I feel there is a loss to kite-flying as such when the sticked kites are so neglected by so many people. I hope you get to do some more flying before the good weather finishes.

@@JimNicholls thank you Jim. Yes, we are all saddened. We all LOVE that event. It’s one of our favorites. Even Tony Killup, Barbara Meyer, Aaron ‘King (kings of the sky), and Michael K Sherman come to this one. Due to other things going on, I haven’t gotten to get out too much this year, which kinda sucks. I wasn’t missing this one.

A wonderful tribute video of this special event and the years of commitment of the organizers. Glad the weather also allowed for the spectacle of all those kites.

Thank you Carl. We were so fortunate to have great winds all weekend. We are all saddened they that are not going to do this event anymore. Fellow You tubers Michael Sherman, Mike Gee and Aaron King (kings of the sky), always come to this event, along with Tony Killip and Barbara Meyer. It really is a wonderful event. We will miss it.

It is ironic and sad that individuals will spend so much and travel so for to bring color and spectacle for the public and community for the fliers only to suffer the attrition of these gatherings for reasons of economics, circumstance or politics. Sigh!

Well, I’m this case, they are retiring. I honestly think that if they could find the right person to take it over, it may continue, but, that has not happened. I know fellow you tubers Aaron King (kings of the sky), Mike Gee, and of course Michael K Sherman have been coming here for years. I’m really going to miss this one.

@@mrlionel1965 Morro may be going away for the same reason Kenny. So goes the kite shop, so goes the festival.

@@PanyingPilot I am feeling your sorrow my friend. Watching the field come down yesterday was incredibly sad. There was some rumblings that somebody may want to pick it up, although we have heard nothing official in that regard. Chow has done an absolutely amazing job here. Literally everyone I talked to said they were sad it was coming to an end. People both young and old, really love coming to watch the kites.
