I love getting the notification of another Build Episode being available.

Hey Bryan, enjoying your build progress videos. I’d suggest getting as much direct airflow as possible into your radiator. Remember, its cooling both the coolant and the oil. These motors generate a lot of heat. I had to modify my cowling to get a direct flow from the airstream directed to the radiator for my RX1. It was originally running 220 degrees on climb out in the summertime. Now its running 185. I would lose the NACA scoop. Just a suggestion from someone who’s been there.

You don't know the half of it. I thought I had time to build, but I am finding that life takes away a lot of building time.

Hi Ken, Clyde here imagine my surprise when you opened the truck. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the wings. I should be flying again in a month. Might fly down and visit.

Clyde. I'm glad you found my channel. Thanks again for the parts. Ken is my Dad, I am Bryan. I look forward to you flying down. I would like to see your new build.

Every Trent Palmer fan: "WTB: Kitfox project, don't care what condition!".... Meanwhile Bryan: "Buy all the Kitfoxes!"... No wonder we can't find any!

Thank you for the great videos! I have a quick suggestion for you regarding the fiberglass. If you check out the video from the KZbin channel Boatworks Today called "Can CSM (Chopped Strand Matting) Be Used With Epoxy??", he does a side by side comparison of a CSM layup using Polyester Resin & Epoxy. The Polyester resin works much better since it can dissolve the styrene binder that is used to hold CSM together when it is manufactured while the epoxy resin can't. Anyway, I thought this might make future repairs using CSM a little bit easier.

Boot cowl is an easy fix, radiators look like they came from and SV650. :)

Did you check out the apex page on face book? Teal made a 3D prop flange bolt on for mock up for mounting without the reduction drive for a 3D printer.

I did, what a great idea. I have one coming my way.

Great video, thank you! Nice parts pickup too! Hey, did you decide what you're going to do with the weatherstripping & weld on the Acrylic doors?
@BowenAero5 жыл бұрын
Have not got back to that yet, but if the weatherstripping gives enough clearance on the weld, then I will just leave it.

Great video, I like your whole approach to this project. Hey, like your Mt, Bachelor hat. Any chance you have any flight video from the air or Bend? Do you have a paint scheme in mind for your new Kitfox?
@BowenAero5 жыл бұрын
Jeff, no video of Bend unfortunately. You are the first to comment on the paint scheme. I have been posting different options in the thumbnails for each video. I will show the one I have settled on when I get to the paint episode.

I wouldn't use that old copper/soldered radiator. They are prone to springing leaks at the most inopportune time. The newer welded aluminum radiator is a much stronger radiator.
@BowenAero5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, that is good to know.

You seem to be on an efficient path toward your goals. The damaged air frame does not seem unrepairable. Is it TIGed chromolly? The glass repair looks good.
@BowenAero5 жыл бұрын
I think it can be repaired. It is MIG welded chromoly. Since the main cabin needs all the repair, maybe some modifications.

what is the function of the two levers underneath the instrument panel, in front of the flaps lever?
@BowenAero2 жыл бұрын
They adjust the position of the rudder pedals.

Bryan, i notice you have RC planes. How much more work and difference is from building RC to Kitfox? Hope to build one but not sure of building my 1st kitfox
@BowenAero5 жыл бұрын
It is quite different, but if you like building RC I think you would like building a Kitfox.

@@BowenAero Engine and avionics seems intimating to install; how's your experience with them? And have you considered other kits?
@BowenAero5 жыл бұрын
@@leadpan Avionics and wiring is one of my favorite parts. The engine on my current Kitfox is a Lycoming and it was intimidating at first, but now I know it so well and enjoy working on it. The new build will be a lot more complex and there is really no support for it other than the internet. We will see how that goes.

@@BowenAero Bryan, in general is the kit frame easier to build then firewall forward?
@BowenAero5 жыл бұрын
Not sure yet. This firewall forward is uncharted waters, I'll let you know.

I know this is an old video, but I found your channel recently and have been trying to catch up on all your videos. Do you still have the kitfox fuselage? And would you be interested in selling it?

I no longer have the wrecked fuselage.

Brian, do you still have the crashed kf7 frame, from washington. Ive just rebuilt my kf4 that i crashed, and thinking id love a kf7 project!

I do not, The wings are the ones I put the Piggyback STOL kit on and have on the airplane now, and Rich Kimble has the fuselage.

Hi Bryan, Great job with your channel! Check out this link below. Looks like they specialize in the Apex engine and offer a lot of machine services and parts that look very interesting. One thing that looked good is that they can build you a fresh engine and if you don't have a core, the core charge is only $2,500. Saves you from having to buy the snow mobile and all the work to take out the engine. I am looking at the Apex for a Kitfox 7 as well. Keep up the good work! Brad www.powerbygns.com/Products.html
