Gorran rhymes with warren rhymes with foreign rhymes with Lauryn (Hill). "Florida" on drums is Glenn Chambers - from Ireland. Ren would spend hours on post, adjusting the levels on every single note, including those drums.

❤❤❤ Love this one so much. Rens pure joy playing that bass and pure emotion when singing is just special. Rens sickness made him allergic to almost all food. He can only eat about 7 or 8 things. Has to take handfulls of supplements and pills to get misding nutrients, & so his body will not reject the few things he can eat Most meat, squashes, lettuce, celery, some coconut oil, etc. Literally on the verge of starving all the time. He was recently able to introduce rice & rice cakes so it was a huge deal. He works out to keep his body strong and it reduces some inflamation he is plagued with. Gorran needed to get a strap on that bass. It is Gorrans guitar and he said he needed to get it secure before Ren started flailing around. Lmao. Glenn, the drummer is Irish. 😊

Thanks Kito! Another fun reaction. Ren talked about the recording and mixing of his live performances in an interview with Elizabeth Zharoff of the Charismatic Voice. Between 48 and 57 minutes is the technical info you've been asking about. Ren recently joined threads, and made some detailed comments on there about mixing and mastering that went over my head, but I think you'd understand what he's saying. Florida, aka Glenn, is actually from Ireland (so you were right in saying he's not from the UK). Unfortunately Ren suffers from MCAS, which means he's allergic to loads of stuff. He can only eat a few foods, so definitely no Uber Eats for him. Yes, he works out. I think you'd be interested to watch his 8 autobiographical Chapters. They tell his story from age 19 to the beginning of this year. Sorry, I didn't make it far into your new song. I'm not a fan of that style of autotuned vocal. But hearing you talk about it, I'll definitely give it another go.

Ren said once that they used to sit an iphone by the drums to record them separately. Then he goes through and mixes and equalises everything on these official busking videos to cut the extraneous noise and balance the times they look away from the mic etc.

The drummer is Glenn Chambers. He is from Ireland, not Florida. 😁 And, yes, the drums are mic'd with an iPhone set on voice recorder. Here is the process copied directly from Ren: “Line inputs running from each of the busking amps into a H4N recorder. Then the H4N condenser mic placed in front of the amps to capture the ambience of the street. Then another iPhone mic recording the drums (just set on voice recorder). Then mix all that together in post on Logic with some light compression and EQ to make everything pop, and voila!”

Romain and Ren both make me like instrumentals in a way I never did before. I never connected with music with no lurics, but the way they are one with their instruments makes me understand the whole "making it speak" thing. One of the best parts of how they both feel the music, is how much joy they both have not only when *they* are playing but when the other is playing, too. If you watch Ren's face during Romain's solos in most of these videos he is just beaming. Don't get me wrong, I love Gorran and Glenn, too, but they don't have the exact same otherworldly enjoyment that radiates through the screen.
