You sir are a treasure. Your videos are clear, detailed and very easy to follow. I have learned so much from you as I own a 2009 Dodge era sprinter.

I love you Deo, after graduating from motor vehicle college recently, watching your videos has now made me to understand and appreciate all what I was taught even though peripherally, it is now coming full circle. I will never stop watching the channel, the contents are so enriching , educational and informative. Thanks my brother from another mum.

Great Vid & Work.. In Europe we would have soaked the old filter in DPF cleaner for 24 hours and flush it through with water and pressure hose.(the DPFs are damm expensive) but a great job, if its new why not just connect and check with scan tool !!!!!

love you work and video great job i am no expert on diesel i am a old man a retired mecanic that like teasing the young one LOL but i did look at you video part 1 and the needle on your vacuum gauge did move the same distance after your clean it even the needle start at different spot as on the new dpf the only thing diff you did is reset the dpf when the engine was hot and it did not reset so the code did not erase and when you reset it after replace dpf the engine was cold it did so it work on reset so it must be a temp thing i think and i think you can send the old dpf to be clean by putting in a hot oven that burn all the sutt and i do not think you can put a vacuum gauge on a exaust thanks great video

Just watched Parts 1 and 2 as my car (2010 Jaguar XF 3.0 twin turbo diesel) has started complaining about a full DPF. Really good videos and an excellent presentational style. Thank you; I feel much better informed and less overawed by the issue now.

Hi. Great video again, thank you. I am really pleased that my OM642 engined Jeep does not have a DPF. Why do you think the DPF was blocked? Is there an issue with the engine or is it just that the DPF is 16 years old? I think that a blocked DPF is perhaps a symptom of something else happening.
@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair7 ай бұрын
@Nick-bp7jf Great question! There was no other issues with the engine! the engine ran fine, the DPF was clogged because of too much soot accumulated in it over the years
@manokent6 ай бұрын
Diesels are much more common here in Europe and the UK. Infamously all the emissions control gear (like the DPF) suffer with short runs. Longer high speed runs give the DPF a chance to periodically regenerate on its own.

Why we cant put again after a while dpf cleaner? It won't clean the rest of soot?
@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair5 ай бұрын
@StelaStratulatKasttela if the DPF soot level is over 75% the cleaner may not work!

Can you explain how the "current particulate filter load" gets calculated on the ECU. After you teach-in new DPF with the scan tool,the soot and ash content went back to Zero, why was the filter load number not changing even after you sprayed the DPF cleaner. I was expecting that number to be restarted as well until the computer recalculates the new values. Also you check backpressure with gauge but wouldn't the reading from the scanner on the DPF pressure differential shall tell you if you have blockage. similar as the gauge but being able to see it on the scanner as Hpa or mbar pressure differential numbers..?
@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair6 ай бұрын
@pwrcycles4735 Doing the Teach in process resets the sensor values in the ECM so although the values got reset but the soot level in the DPF remained pretty high that's why the current soot load PID didn't change, and the computer calculates that by comparing the pressure difference between the inlet of the DPF and the outlet of it! I like to use the gauge to make sure that the scanner is accurate, I do that to double check what the scanner is saying
@Stoney3K6 ай бұрын
It's an accumulated value. The engine determines the resistance in the filter according to the differential pressure and the mass airflow. This value for the resistance is added over time, giving a certain 'load' value. And if that load value is over threshold, it will set a trouble code. The value itself isn't in any real unit, it's an arbitrary magic number that is only used internally and the specific method used to calculate/adapt it is only known to Mercedes.

Your exhaust before the DPF has a leak, you can see the smoke, so this van will come back for a clamp or a little weld! There shouldn't be a smoke coming from anywhere except the tail pipe! Everything else was perfect and do a Regen every time you change a DPF!
