For an A.I., K.I.T.T. was indeed surprisingly human. Even though K.I.T.T. often emphasizes that he is without emotion, he has some surprisingly human traits. Remember his first training session after he was rebuilt after a "minor" acid bath? He was suffering from PTSD - a VERY human condition, which comes from a place of FEAR. K.I.T.T.'s obsession with correct English? OCD(ish). Even minor displays of jealousy would surface from time to time.

@@pHD77 KITT became more human throughout the course of the show. There's a pretty big difference between the KITT of the pilot/early season 1 and this season 3 opener.

He even had a sense of humor (dry though it may have been), a sense of self awareness, and a regard for Michael that was more along the lines of "battle buddy" than a programmed "Protect all human life" robot ideal. I distinctly remember as a kid, when Michael had complimented a girl's smile early in an episode, K.I.T.T. had established he could rate "beauty" in a scientific way, even saying something about the effectiveness of machines, like "200 miles on a gallon of gas looks good to me". Then later, after dropping the girl off he paid closer attention to the person, and after she had left, K.I.T.T. called Michael back, and then said "You were right. she _does_ have a nice smile", which made Michael chuckle. Either he was being funny, or he had made a determination of a person based purely on something he found pleasant about them. either way, it was a small display of emotion which also showed his ability to learn and adapt.

@@ferrari2k Granted, but this seemed to go beyond mere "programming"; it was more like K.I.T.T. _wanted_ to become more "human" or more in tune with humanity over time. In the spin off show *Team Knight Rider,* they explained that like real people, the personalities of the vehicles would adapt and be influenced by the personalities of the drivers, each amplifying the best/worst traits of the other. That wasn't implicitly _stated_ in this show, but just from how they would talk and rely on each other, you got the sense the same thing happened with K.I.T.T.; he seemed to evolve into a more caring being seeing how Mike would be so compassionate to others. No doubt Devon and Bonnie had a hand in that as well, as K.I.T.T. saw them as "family".

What amazed me was how stealthy and strong K.I.T.T. was yet so tender-hearted and considerate. That's mostly what made this show so relatable.

Glen Larson originally wanted KITT to be more robotic in nature. Bill Daniels gave KITT the warm human-like personality and basically told Larson to shut up and let Daniels do the the voice his way

Though we do get one shot of the new dash in the hero car in "KITT vs. KARR", where you can tell it wasn't quite finished as signs weren't added on displays yet.

It also makes another appearance in the episode junkyard dog when Bonnie and Michael repair kit on their own after the other cyberneticists deemed kitt unfit to return to duty because he's lost his nerve.

@@knightrcer Yes, "KITT vs. KARR" is the last episode to officially feature the old dash, but not quite the final appearance altogether as it would often appear briefly now and again through the remainder of the series. According to Knight Rider Historians, the dash got removed from the S2 hero car and put in the left hand blind drive car.

I've always loved the show, but there are times that I like to poke fun at the stunts/effects. Michael had K.I.T.T. up to 78 mph when he was ejected and Michael landed in the bush like he jumped off of a motionless footstool. No rolling or skidding or tumbling, not even a sore ankle. Still, I love it.

He wasn't zeroing in on the *exhaust emissions* (more/less wouldn't've made any difference) he was zeroing in on the tailpipe itself: An unshielded access of KITT's exterior. In the same context, the only vulnerability in Airwolf's exterior armor was its mid-air refuelling intake, and, as Moffett said in the pilot episode, one bullet up there, and the whole thing would blow up (for same reason as KITT: unshielded access to the interior and fuel) Moffett then goes on to 'Russian-RouIette it' in front of the Libyan captain. When the captain points out Moffett is quite mad, Moffett denies it and says that he's just extremely bored 🤣🤣🤣🤣 But here's a production dates twist which I think makes for an interesting hypothetical: The season of Knight Rider where Bonnie was absent, would have been the same year as when the FIRM finally complete Airwolf... I'm wondering if rather than 'being at college', if Bonnie had actually been assigned to the FIRM to assist with Airwolf's final construction... 🙈🙈🙈🙈

When KITT said "he's zeroing in" Michael should have slammed on the brakes. They couldn't decide what the underside of KITT looks like, I've seen pipework under the car on other days. KITT has smothered bombs that have had no impact on the interior after exploding inside the car, makes no sense and I still love it.

Both "Knight of the Drones" and "Junk Yard Dog" are great episodes as they are. And it's awesome how KITT gets his dash upgrade. But when KITT later gets dumped in an acid pit and pulled out gutted, I often feel that would've been more empowering to how he gets the new dash. Like imagine KITT sinking in the pit and the old dash disintegrates after being associated with it through S1-2. And then introduce the new dash when he's being restored. Sometimes feel that would've been more affective than a rocket up his exhaust and his old displays on the blink like in "Goliath".

Michael investigating a Chinese restaurant, pursuing one of the guys involved which leads to his first visit at the villain's retreat, KITT getting hit by the missile, Michael on a date with the leading villain while Bonnie installs KITT's new dash and then Michael taking a look all appear to happen in a single day.

@@AndrewChapman Well by the time kitt is ready to go back out in the field, we see it's dark when kitt hits the semi ramps to leave. Let's say the rondeveux with Margo was in the early morning and factoring in daylight savings time it was probably late evening by the time Bonnie installed the new dash. Repairs kitts exhaust system if it was only a replacement of the 1 muffler and nothing else more intricate thay a few components for the knifht 2000 she mostly likely was able to pick up at the local radio shack and some spit and shine for tbe cosmetic damage. The. There's junk yard d9g which required the entire original team Wilton Knight assembled. But most of that could be done by the gang of mechanics in Chicago after the juggernaut destroys kitt in the season 4 opening. When you think of all that it's not that crazy that Michael asks Eddir of he repaired Karr when he has him up against the wall after karr escaped. Yeah a boat renter repaired the most advanced state-of-the-art computer on wheels.

In one episode, Michael activated the flare system to evade some missiles (I think it was in the episode where he fought against a helicopter). In another episode where KITT and Michael were in a military camp being attacked by military rockets/missiles, Michael used flame/fire from the turbo-boost to attract 3 heat missiles that were fired at them. 2 fell in the area where KITT was launching the flame of fire and another missile fell on a food bus!! Why didn't he use those systems here???
