I just rewatched this because my own chevroning attempts were giving me a headache (it’s too hot to think!). I even broke out the colourful markers to help with visualisation. In the end it turns out, between the nature of my stripe and the amount of fabric I have, I’m best off just doing a four panel skirt with two panels cut upside down. But it’s always a pleasure to listen to you while in the sewing room. ❤

And thanks to the KZbin App for jumping ahead to a different video, misplacing my comment. You know what I was referring to.

I was searching the web for a tutorial on this, I was very glad when you popped up! I'm new to your channel and to machine sewing and you've been a wonderful help. We love similar styles so I'm very lucky to have found a creator that posts things so relevant to my taste! Thank you very much and I hope you're healing up nicely! ❤

Great tutorial! I learned a great deal about finishing seams which is something that I need to do more of. Thank you for sharing.

Awesome tutorial! You make it look so easy! I love how you finish everything so nicely and will be adopting some of your methods. I feel so inspired.

I'm so glad I found this! The online calculators are also confusing me and they each give me a different radius. Hooray I've got the same waist measurement as you so thank you for finally clarifying this all for me! For such a simple design, the math is not intuitive.

Congratulations on achieving the 10,000 subscriber goal! I love this skirt that you’ve created. The volume of fabric looks really feminine without being too overwhelming. Excellent tutorial!

Where do you get the paper that you draft your patterns on? Also what is it called? Awsome video!!!

Love the skirt! I have to do one of those just because the risk of flashing your knickers isn’t as big. Makes it more everyday appropriate. 😉 And don’t get me started on short zips in skirts - total pet peeve in rtw clothes. I’m doing alright with the 22cm usually recommended in patterns but I’ve seen skirts in the shops that were half that length! At that point I can’t get into the skirt from either direction so what the heck were those designers thinking?!

to cut in two you can also just do a 45 degree measuring tool (if you have one) - my primary math teacher would be so smug if he could see me now. :')

Makes total sense to me. Will keep this in mind for next spring/summer (I'm the sort of person that, once it gets cold, I'm 24/7 wearing jeans and long slacks and put my razors away until it warms up. LOL. )

Thanks for this ..but was your pattern on fold?
@KittenishBehaviourSian11 ай бұрын
No it's not cut on the fold. 7.01 I mention adding seam allowance to both edges of the skirt panel.

I don't understand, did you fold your fabric and cut it or did you cut 3 pieces of your fabric without folding it ? Where do I add the seam allowance ? Thank you, great tutorial *-*
@thesilvasfamilyblog90792 жыл бұрын
She cut 3 panels and added SA to all of the straight edges because they’ll be pieced together at the sides. So no cutting on any folds! :)

Love it! Would hanging the skirt for 2 weeks help to prevent that the hemline hangs out or is that just in the case of knits?

I’m hoping to use this method to make a tulle over skirt for my wedding dress. Do you think it will work?
@KittenishBehaviourSian4 жыл бұрын
I think it will look lovely, how many layers of tulle are you going for?
@vickyshipley5734 жыл бұрын
Kittenish Behaviour I was planning on only one layer as it’s embellished with glitter and sequins. I will make a sash belt with a bow to cover the zip at the back

why did u add the extra piece of paper? What am I missing. I didn't understand that method at all. Can someone please help me out! I am newbie when it comes to self drafting patterns.
@KittenishBehaviourSian6 жыл бұрын
cynthia Howard I needed to add the seam allowance to both side of my pattern which is why I stuck down the extra paper as that was the side that had been drawn on the very edge of the original piece of paper. Hope that makes sense. 😊
@cynthiahoward49496 жыл бұрын
had to add for seam allowance on the edge.

Won’t this give you a non-circular waist???
@KittenishBehaviourSian4 жыл бұрын
How do you mean?
@miacondie21084 жыл бұрын
Kittenish Behaviour when I drafted a mini-version of the pattern on paper, the waist had dips and points. I followed the video exactly, but cutting out the top curve as 90 degree angles didn’t come together as a circle, but instead as a weird rounded triangle. The measurement was correct for my waist, I had calculated along with the video correctly, it was just jagged rather than a full circle.
