I'm about to try making the Sew over it penny dress. The full circle skirt looks a bit full so I'm going to use your tutorial to add a half circle. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for another fab tutorial Sian! And we really appreciate the amount of detail you show. I’m not a beginner, but new to the world of circle skirts so glad for the explanations. The skirt looks great! ❤️

If you don't have a compass a pin, piece of string and a pencil works as well :)

Hey Sîan, have you tried trying a length of string to your pencil for drawing the curves? Just an idea, might be a bit quicker :) x

wonderful tutorial again Sian. Quick question, how wide is your bias tape and is it called 'Double Fold'? I'm new to bias tape, but I love the clean, professional finish it provides. Thanks for generously sharing you knowledge lovely lady.

Sian, if you "love" the comment, please answer the question Lynette asked about the bias tape you used. That's real love!

It looks like single fold to me. When I tried this myself, I used single fold, and it worked. In addition, mine looked thinner than hers and her technique still worked beautifully. for my thinner looking tape.

Great tutorial, thank you! Love, love love your rainbow bias 😊 What fabrics would suit this skirt? (Other than the lovely crepe you used?)
@KittenishBehaviourSian6 жыл бұрын
Anything at all 😊 Experiment and have some fun with it. Just make such that the fabric you pick isn't too heavy and does have some movement 😊

Hi. I want you know how I put my zipper in. I sew up the back of the skirt to where I'm going to put the zip in and stop at that point. I then press open the upper part of the seam all the way up. this gives me enough fabric to sew on my zip. At this point I glue my zip in place and sew it on, one side at a time as you do. Then It's all done. this way the bottom of the zip threads meets the top of the tread and there is no space, its like one continues seam. Now I like to put a closure on the skirt, because if the zip breaks what will hold your garment together until you get home to repair it? I don't walk around with pins, LOL. Have fun sewing, later.

Did you use knit or woven fabric? Could I put an elastic waist in instead of a zipper? What would be easier for a totally new seamstress?

I am a very plump older lady. I am wondering if I could do this for myself. But it looks like I would have to do two halves and have a side seam on each side because I can't get the full circle on the fabric. Any suggestions. Thanks

Hi Tammy 😊 the next instalment in this series will be a panelled skirt which you can apply to the half and full skirt tutorials I've already done. It'll be up early next month 😊

How dis you come to 8 3/4" is here a formula for that? wha if the waist is 36" what will i be? I saw a video her waist was 35" and her numbers came o 61/2" wide it makes no sense o me her number is so much higher than yours and ye her number is less than your Please explain o me. Thanks a lot.
@KittenishBehaviourSian4 жыл бұрын
It sounds like the person with the 35" was making a full circle skirt which is why her number came out to 6 1/2", mine is only a half circle which is why I have a higher number even though my waist is smaller.
