It’s coming up to the key socialisation age for the kittens (4-12weeks) where you need to expose the kittens to as many new stimulus as possible. Dogs, humans, sounds, smells. This will ensure they grow to become really nice natured cats that aren’t scared of everything.

My measure of when to supplement nursing with food is always dependent on momma. In small liters they can easily provide enough milk without draining themselves and it is usually five weeks or later before the kittens are interested in food. So I usually don’t bother until then. In larger litters mom struggles to eat enough to make enough milk. She will lose weight and start to blow coat like Sakura is doing. These I feed much earlier! The best sign you have chosen the right time to supplement is when the kittens go straight for it and chow down like your babies did. If they just taste and play you are too early. You are doing a great job with them!

He just needs to feed the mother more, or better food. He probably only feeds her once or twice a day. I feed my nursing mothers at least 4 times a day, as much as they can eat in a few minutes so the other cats don't swoop in like the parasitic vultures they are, especially the tomcats lol.

Hi Joey :D, there is a channel called "Kitten lady" on youtube, she fostered and rescued a lot of kittens and cats, so her videos might help you with the kittens. I don't know a lot about kittens myself, but I think that you're doing great xD. They all look healthy and happy, and it's amazing how fast they grow (It's even kind of sad T^T). Also, yes, pet them while they eat, so they start getting used to human touch, you can even start picking them for short periods while they eat so that they get used to being picked up too.

Hey Joey I definitely would recommend changing their litter to the pellets instead of the clumping one because they will eat it and it can clump in their stomach because they don’t know better also I recommend watching the kitten lady she fosters and has her own rescue she’s great and even talk about the litter and how to ween them off milk!!!!

Yes you should pet them while they're eating, just like dogs. You should also frequently play with their paws, tail, and ears, and try to get them okay with holding their paws so that their nails can be more easily trimmed when they're older.

yes you should pet them while eating to make them not aggressive with food. Also as some others have said, you should touch and play with their paws and tails and rub their bellies because most cats will kill anyone if they are touched in these areas. If you get them used to it, they will all be so chill and cool and nice. :) Also hold them a lot and play with string toys. You can get these toys at the dollar store that are basically a plastic stick that you hold and there's a string with a toy attached at the end, they are amazing. Also lazer pointers are a hit with cats.

It really annoys me when I see comments from people who know absolutely nothing about kittens criticizing Joey or giving very unhelpful advice. Joey's going off of articles from people who actually have experience with kittens and all the comments are saying "Oh that's wrong!! You should do this instead!" I mean, I totally get that some people actually know things about kittens, and they're actually trying to help, but the people who just comment random, untrue things (they might think they're true, based on what they see, but they're actually not) just annoy me. Joey, I advise you not to listen to every comment you see, who knows, it could be some 12 year old behind a computer typing out random stuff. :/ that's just my opinion.

As somebody said on the last video, you should put the roundish bed inside of the pen. Sakura clearly wants the kittens to be hidden, having them able to roam with no hiding places gives her enough anxiety to hide them so I think it'd be best to put it in there with them.

Joey! Thank you so much for actually taking the time to read the comments that are providing helpful feedback. I understand that some people are responding in hateful/negative ways but im sure this has to do with the fact that they take the lives of these kittens very seriously and they just want to see these kittens safe and healthy. so thank you for not getting offended by constructive criticism such as handling them appropriately, using non-clumping/ kitten-safe litter, and weening them safely. You're doing a fine job so far and my only suggestion for now is to try NOT to pick them up by the scruff of their neck because it actually could block their airways which is especially dangerous when they're eating. You can also start to put a few toys in their area now as they are at the age when they start to get curious about playing with toys. Just make sure you supervise them! I also think its great that you're getting them a new playpen area, as it could potentially be dangerous for them to free roam with stuff they could get into like loose wires, outlets, and things they could choke on. Good luck with everything Joey and thank you for keeping us updated!

When my cat had kittens and I weaned them, I did pet them while they were eating and it gets them use to humans and the human touch and that they can trust people. So when they go to their news homes they' re used to being petted, picked up and held. Playing with them is essential as they need to start developing their natural instincts, which is hunting, playing also helps them so get rid of energy.

*Tip with Leo Joey! Plain Chicken baby food and have her in u r lap when she get's it. She doesn't get any if she is on the ground, that way you connect something good with being in your lap. But don't hold her in any way, put her in u r lap! Get a spoon with the chicken baby food and let her get it as a treat for sitting in your lap on her own. Repeat this and she will be all good. It's how you tame a feral kitten so i'm pretty sure it will work on Leo. Slow steps is the way, I think she doesn't like being held as in "being stuck". When she get's comfortable in your lap you can try holding her a bit. I’m sure she be fine being held later on.*

joey you are doing amazing with the kittens! 7 years ago we found a box full of kittens on the side of the road we think someone threw them out of their truck only one little girl lived. She was so young she didn't even have her eyes open we had to bottle feed her and use a paper towel to get her to use the bathroom. we kept her and I named her jewel or juju for short. One of my best memories of her as a kitten was when she was finally old enough to go and explore I took her outside (it was fall) we were running around a tree and she was so tiny she could hide behind a leaf it was so cute only her ears were sticking up! you are doing great with the kittens you need to keep Leo she is so cute!

My cat Lily only let me start holding her when she was 10 years old and it was after she got out and stayed gone for a week. I was in my bedroom and finally started crying because I thought she was gone for good. She started meowing outside my bedroom window. I went outside, picked her up and held her close. After a few minutes it dawned on me that this was the first time she was allowing me to hold her.

@@Erintube360 Thanks, and yes she did! Oh, and I was wrong!! She delivered 3 more when i was asleep. She is grey with a white belly, chin, and feet. One baby looks just like her, one baby is brown with darker stripes, the runt is mainly white with black dots, and I think the other is also grey and white. They're adorable!!!!!!!!! 4 little babies in total!

Yes, to prevent aggressive and possessive eating behaviors and to build trust, while they are eating it is definitely important to pet them all over their bodies, back, head, sides, and you should also sometimes pick them up for a few seconds while they are eating and put them right back down where they were to continue eating and other times take the bowl away for a few seconds and give it right back, this builds trust and helps prevent and or decrease aggressive and possessive eating behavior.
