I am a farang that married a Thai girl in 1969, then move to USA. The wife was very unhappy for several years but finally found a way to cook Thai food using what was available and communicated with family frequently. Stayed in USA for 40 years then both of us retired in Bangkok. Many friends married to Thai girls got divorced and the girl returned to Thailand after a few years, so each girl is different.

Been living in Thailand for 4 years, originally from England. I don't ever want to live there again. Thailand is a much better, happier place, the whole west is falling apart with political correctness and inability to accept a difference of opinion. If you asked a white girl in the west of she prefers white men or black men, and she answered white, social media would label her racist and evil and she would definitely be threatened with violence. In Thailand you can make yourself happy without having to worry about making everyone else happy too.

Thai people in general are very good in my perspective. It also depends on you because if you behave in a disrespectful and ignorant way you're likely to see a side that you basically deserve. At the end of the day, the average Thai citizen is very nice and accommodating to people that treat them respectfully

@NATT117 as an American, I can assure you that this country really isn't as great as everyone thinks. Corruption is quite high, news media have way too much influence on a lot of people. Our education system is a joke, our military(training only) is significantly worse, and so much more. I ended up dropping out of school to support my family because of the change in pay and all kinds of ridiculous stuff. But I do think from a foreigners perspective its entirely different. If I was to visit Thailand I believe it would be amazing, I love the culture there, and if I could I'd visit someday. It's a beautiful place, and has amazing people.

See the New York Times article on that topic about Korean men marrying Southeast Asian women. Also the women are big on plastic surgery because they use it to compete in jobs. It simply because brown skin tends to get dark mark or patches when exposed to sun. The point is not to get white skin but uniform skin color. It helps when we avoid the sun or apply whitening cosmetic

These women are being polite. I've been living and working in Bangkok for three years now. I'm a person of color from America and have had ABSOLUTELY no problem finding suitable, attractive, partners for casual relationships or otherwise. With this being said *MOST* Thai women prefer white men. Realistically if you are white, you don't even have to be attractive or in shape and there is still a large percentage of women here that will fall head over heels for you. Mostly due to the fact that Thailand as a country is obsessed with white skin. Any kind of beauty product sold to women contains "whitening" agents. You can't walk down the street for more than a block without seeing adverts for skin whitening products, and you can't ride the BTS for longer than two stops without seeing a commercial selling some kind of skin whitening product. Also because despite what you may have seen on a youtube video or heard, Thailand is in every sense of the word a DEVELOPING country. Even major cities like Bangkok still have pockets of areas of people living in slums of poorly constructed tin houses and areas that look like something out of a Natgeo magazine. Meaning, being a "white" westerner to most Thai's you already are perceived to have status and wealth. Even if the white foreigner is a dishwasher, barely scraping by in his home country. With this being said there is a decent population of women who don't care what race you happen to be, and a smaller population of women here that prefer men of color. But once again the *MAJORITY* want a white western man. This is especially true of high society Thai women.

it could be that for asian people, chinese, thai and phillipine atleast ... white skin means higher status, if you are darker in the skin it can mean that you are a farmer or low income person not that it needs to be realistic. So have I heard atleast from asian people I have spoken to, they say that because you are out in the fields working you get tanned (or darker skin) while if you have a job inside .. your skin will be whiter and so it is about different status.

Good questions and good answers. Can you do another one asking about mixed or dark-skinned guys? It is an interesting question because of cultural reasons related to skin colour. Most beauty products and moisturizers have a skin bleaching agent, skin bleaching treatment is advertised everywhere and it is interesting to know what are their views on darker skins when it comes to dating.

Been to Thailand many times and I don't know why would any thai would want to leave the country, to me Thailand is a beautiful, culturally rich and exciting place, not to mention the food is out of this world. Their food is fit for a king. In regards to marriage or dating I think these girls are probably middle class Thais that have a relative comfortable life and no need to venture out of their country for economic reasons, nonetheless, the general population for the most part probably would be more assertive in their answers and most likely will say they would date or marry a foreigner. In the West we base quality of life on how much possessions we have, our houses, cars, TV'S, boats, neighborhoods and so on, yet everything we own, we're paying for it, we owe nothing, everything belongs to banks, insurance companies and wall street, we are just slaves to the system that make us all believe we own things, truth be told people in the west we are a couple of month away to be homeless if fired from a job, the average American don't have 5000 in the the bank on top of that, we only have few vacations a year to enjoy, we work our asses off, we eat poorly such as fast junk food, our social life revolves around weekends, our family bonding is scarce and we are over weight due to lack of exercise. Is that a better standard of life? Thais on the other hand, live a minimalistic life and the middle class enjoy and deals with many of the same things we have on the west. Furthermore, they have a strong culture, traditions, family values, wonderful street food and many more. Thai people are proud people, love their country and i know that the last thing they would want to do is leave their beautiful country... Yes some Thais want to leave the country but only because economics not for any other reason.

Great video. Lived in Thailand 18 months myself. Had a beautiful gf for 3 or 4 months. No complaints!! My conclusion: Thailand is a GREAT country to visit. Everyone should at least once. But it's NOT great place to find a bride. As the video just confirmed, Thai girls like Thai men, and prefer to stay in Thailand. Of course there are always exceptions, but it is not a place like the Philippines where people look up to foreigners, and are curious to go abroad. Visit Thailand, but don't expect a wife there.

Feminism: the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. That is it, equality is the basic idea for feminism, so I am not sure what that had to do with anything these young women said in this video and why men are looking abroad for meaningful relationships. I having nothing against people having relationships with people from all around the world. I have dated women from a number of different nationalities. What I do think some guys just want a submissive woman, and cant seem to handle the whole idea of equal rights, and think they can get that overseas (which is sometimes the case but I didnt get that feeling at all from the responses of these women). What I did get out of this video which I did like is the very strong connection to family. Which is something I loved about Thailand. And the lack of it for example in the United States is not something I would blame on feminism. Plus the desire to meet someone that is a good match for them that they get along with, which is pretty much universal. Plus, women in Thailand sometimes have nose rings, get tattooed and even have pink hair sometimes.

I vacationed in Thailand Bangkok, and Phuket. The Thai people are nice. They smile and give Thai greeting called the Wai, hands together like praying and a bow. They are mostly Buddhist. There are pretty ladies for sure. Language is problematic for a relationship. Not sure I could live there, but it's not too bad. Cost of living is low.

I'm an American lawyer, my wife is a Vietnamese professor (from Hanoi). She likes living in western countries, and got her graduate education in Europe, but she's also traditionally Vietnamese and loves SE Asia. I've grown up and lived all over the world. So we have mostly lived in Vietnam since we married in our 30s, but we will probably be moving to the States soon. It's nice to have that flexibility as an international couple, but it's also a stressor and requires compromise. For example, I like Vietnam but I hate the climate and it doesn't offer the things I really like, such as skiing, mountain climbing, etc. And so the same types of issues exist for her if she's overseas. If you are in a relationship like this, it's important to realize that a lot of sacrifice has to occur for most cases, from both sides of the relationship.

Thai women are incredibly beautiful.. These girls seem very sweet and nice. I've seen some really bad behaviour from Thai girls but these seem to be very sweet and natural. They are probably pretty Conservative and have a sense of self respect unlike many western women. This is why I am hoping to meet one of these type of beauties in the not too far future. It would seem that one important criteria that remained unsaid was that most foreign men would need a work visa. Otherwise there would be no time for the relationship to get serious enough to move to another country and/or there would be no money to provide for them in Thailand.

I have never driven a car in the US, so I don't know how it is. With that being said though, people in Bangkok are generally better drivers than in rural areas. Trust me, I'm from rural area.

Yeah, it’s about the location. I’m from LA, but the traffic in Bangkok is wild for me! 😂I still love it, but it’s something else. It’s cooperative though for how wild it is. I wouldn’t even try to drive there even though I really wanted to rent a motorbike there.

Leon Ross In my experience it has worked pretty well in terms of religion and cultural differences . In Sweden most old generation Z/young Milenials were raised here and aren’t very religious. If I were to move to let’s say Saudi Arabia it might be different

"Farang" in Thaï means "French" like "Barang" in Khmer (Cambodian) language. The Thaï language have some roots from the Khmer language which one have strong Indian roots and culture. But "Barang" and I think "Farang" too, is now used often for White people, basically is from the influence of France colonization in ancient Indochina (Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos)

Thais are culturally, and even a little ethnically, descended from India. They worship Hanuman and I've seen words like "raja" and sing" in their language (sing even means lion in Thai too, same as sanskrit singh).

Having grown up and living in the UK, I really like British women, especially Scottish women. They are so warm-hearted and beautiful. English women are beautiful and nice, but I found them difficult to approach. Welsh people are nice and beautiful also. Don't know much about Irish women but I'm sure they are great too. But as with everywhere in the world, there are some that aren't very nice, it just depends on the person. As for me, I love Scottish women, especially the gingers. Until recently, I've discovered my love for thai women, they are beautiful and/or charming.

Robert Harding This is not a racist. It is the different social values in each country. I know that many countries in the West are independent in choosing a partner or marriage. But many Asian countries have social values that encourage marriage with someone of the same religion/nationality. Specifically, the country never been colonized by Western countries, such as Thailand, Korea, Japan, China (but now have more freedom). Just we have different social values it doesn't mean we are racist , Many Thais prefer foreigners (so do i) , we always welcome when they come to our country.🤗

I can cook food that is as good as thai food. Australian and New Zealand fish is better than most of the fish in thailand. Be careful about eating farmed fish it's farmed in filthy water and fed very dodgy fish food.

i think it depends a lot of European countries you can still get healthcare and a pension even if you live in Thailand for 30 years and come back. I know in the US you have to spend many years paying into the system to get it. So, if you lived in Thailand for 30 years and came back you would be screwed.
