Keep an eye on the land auction in late-June. If the current Coyotes owner, Alex Meruelo wins it AND is able to build his arena project within the next 5 years, the NHL grants him the right to revive the franchise under its current branding. The Coyotes IP stays with Meruelo for the time being, the NHL considers the franchise "inactive". Whether Meruelo should ever be let anywhere close to a sports team is - of course - an entirely different story, but that's a topic other KZbinrs shall cover:)

Yeah, this was relayed to me when I was at the Mascot Showdown in Toronto in February. Too bad he didn't get the job, but maybe it had to be that way, considering what just happened. I feel so incredibly sorry for Howler, his performer and everyone else in the organization. One of the most Furry mascots isn't anymore:(
