Public Fursuiting at Woodland Park Zoo Seattle 07/2022

Team Kitwana-Kijani Lion is BACK! Along with Blusicurl and Bravewolf, we headed for Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo on a warm, sunny day in July for a morning full of fluffy fun as we were entertaining a lot of visitors with our spontaneous apperance and spread so much smiles, joy and hugs to kids of all ages!
Thank you so much, Kijani, for hosting me! It certainly means a lot being able to perform at the side of my biggest inspiration!

WPZ only recently changed their mind about allowing fursuiters in the zoo. They wouldn't allow it until up to the pandemic. Kijani hosted a successful fursuiting event there just a few weeks ago, so this one in my video was actually the 2nd time that fursuiters visited WPZ. Change in mind might have to do with new people in the zoo management and/or the fact they're just glad that people are visiting and spend money after the zoo was closed for some part during the pandemic. I also heard zoo staff was very happy with how the 1st outing went, noting it added a lot to guest entertainment and lots of happy faces, so WPZ really seems to be cool with fursuiters. However, it's still advisable to let them know in advance that fursuiters plan to visit. Security staff patrolling the zoo actually asked whether we had permission - and then asked us to pose for a photo!

I, for myself, don’t mind being called a mascot, because I’ve found my way into the fandom not only through Kijani but also admiring sports mascot, who appear a lot at community events and do the same there like we fursuiters do here: Performing to make kids smile!

They did, we unfortunately only got one video guy to handle the camera, and 4 fursuiters, so it was a bit hard to get equal screen time for everyone. We all enjoyed ourselves, though.

Definitely do it! There's nothing more rewarding than making a child smile through the performance of a fursuit or mascot costume. We've got quite a few zoo visitors thing we're WPZ's official mascots:) Was one of my most memorable public outings!

@Travel Star it would sound wierd and muffled in a fursuit so imagine trying to roar and sound8ng like a dying elephant in the snow. You wouldn't want to scare them.

The zoo's stance on fursuiters on their property changed after the pandemic for the better. This was one of the best public fursuiting experiences I've ever had and with the zoo loving us so much, Kijani plans to make this a regular event going forward.

@@Snuggles_the_Unholy D'aww, thank you for your kind words! I'm glad to see you find my content inspiring, that's why I'm running this channel! KZbin is a highly competitive, oversaturated environment nowadays, but the key is to be authentically yourself and be the best person you can be. The rest is outside of your control. I am good friends with a few other popular KZbinrs and we don't compete against each other, even though some feature very similar or the same content, but still, each of us is different and caters to a slightly different audience. Don't care too much about clicks and views, just enjoy what you're doing, be yourself and a positive example for others. A tip: What will greatly help you is having a friend that would be able to document your fursuiting adventures on camera once you have your suit. That makes it a lot easier. As for myself, I'm not leaving anywhere soon and, in fact, I have projects for 1-2 additional costumes within the next 5 years. Stay tuned and have fun fursuiting!
