They actually need to add robotic arm to do actual picking. Hardware is ready, but software are not here yet. Problem with software is that you HAVE TO pick products reliably, recognizing faults like if arm picked wrong one or picked two items instead of one... This system is cool, but with actual robotic arm doing all picking it would be much cooler!

How long until a robotic arm takes the human out of the process?

Wait until she gets to the cat litter and dog food bins --won't look so easy then..

Ok if they had this technology In 2011 and I'm watching this in ,2018 they must have even ridiculously way better technology today that's not out yet

Yep and shortly after this Amazon bought Kiva for $700 million. All that tech is now owned by Amazon and they are R&Ding some cool tech. I am actually an Amazon robotics tech and work on the latest bots.

No. I work here. The station changed, and the pod carrying the item, but the robot is still the same. There's no real groundbreaking technology inside an FC center. Mostly windows laptops honestly. Under Armour rents the building next to us (Amazon owns the whole business Park at DCA1) and they have some cool technology. Can't even drive into the lot without a badge to open the gates, wheras Amazon, our badges barely work to clock in and out.

Still no difference on the robots and likely won't be. The next step is likely being able to get the item to the packer without the human picker.
