I find it insane that the 64GB Steam Deck wasn't more popular. I only bought the Steam Deck since the base model was so much cheaper than earlier handheld PCs, and since you have to buy a Micro SD card for a Base Switch or Base Steam Deck anyways, the additional cost for going past 64GB was super palatable. I'm just hoping they keep the cheaper option with the Steam Deck 2.

For perspective, that's only $100 more than a Nintendo Switch in the USA and that's when it's not even on a sale. When accounting for the difference between American and Australian currencies, that's at least an additional 30 dollar price increase. When factoring in that the average Australian salary is is a few thousand below the average American salary, that's a bigger ask for the Steam Deck price.

I still say there are four perfect entry points into the Yakuza/LAD series. 0, it is a taste of Yakuza with no commitments. If you only play one, play 0. 1/Kiwami, It's the start of Kiryu's story proper. The extra stuff from 0 is inconsequential. 4, Starts with new characters before continuing Kiryu's story 7, All new cast.

The Black Panther games slap so hard. The fighting is so brutal and weighty, the art style is perfect for the PSP, the fan translation of the 2nd game is nearly perfect, and the music is incredible. 24:45 Thank you for the reccomending FF16 as you did. I then decided to try playing the pc demo and I was hooked and now 1 month later I am at the final mission about to start the dlc. The game is absolutly phenominal with only a few small gripes that soon fade away the moment I hear "Away" begin to play. Shame that modern triple A games require 6-8 years of dev time now and we can't go from Doom to Doom 2 in literally 8 months. My first FF was 15 and that game almost killed my interest in the franchise until I randomly gave 12 a go and fell in love with the voice work which would then grow with 10 and peak with 16.

I haven't played Emio because I've got a lot of other games on my backlog but both I and people I know are into VNs and point-and-click adventures (AA, Spike Chunsoft, Cing, Darkside Det., etc.). There's also plenty of people who were inspired to give it a try due to many reasons: the marketing, that it was effectively a new IP/entry, the M rating from an internal studio, and of course, being developed as a massive passion project by Yoshio Sakamoto. As for your other comments about Nintendo IP, I don't have a clue about what you're talking about "Xenoblade never ""being"" Zelda" or Kirby never "being realized" like mainline Mario. They're all doing quite well for themselves; from what I've heard, Xenoblade often touches on much deeper, more mature/interesting themes, characters and ideas than Zelda, and Kirby has plenty of iteration and innovation at times where sometimes mainline Mario, and even spinoff Mario, has lacked a certain creative spark (see the "Mario mandates"). Lastly, you mentioned "no one makes games like Nintendo", which I take to mean a compliment on their unique way of implementing fun, engaging, creative gameplay in everything they touch. You also said they haven't yet made a "violent" game. Not mature. Not deep. Not interesting. Not fun. But violent. Frankly, if a new IP was made today by Nintendo that only featured violence and none of these other interesting draws, I wouldn't give less of a shit. I'm reminded of how certain Nintendo higher-ups were interviewed and pressured on the past on certain things they had never touched, including mobile games, AI, crypto and NFTs, but also long dormant IPs. Their response was always something like 'we can't find the fun or new, interesting ideas in these currently'. I think if they haven't properly done a 'violent' game in all this time, it's because their way of doing things doesn't inherently see violence for violence's sake as inherently fun, deep, mature or interesting. Fantasy violence can occur in Xenoblade, Zelda, Mario and other IPs, but are often connected to deeper themes, interesting adjacent gameplay, or just some kind of fun gimmick.

I think Kiwami on the Switch is a good start. Perhaps if it performs well we might see Yakuza 0 and just maybe 3, 4 and 5 remastered for the Switch. Another nice thing to think about is if a Switch 2 releases soon, its potentially gonna be more powerful than the PS4, meaning we might start to see some of the Dragon Engine Yakuza games as well like 6 and possibly the Judgements series I might get this all wrong, but it's pretty exciting to think about it this way. If the Switch 2 is backwards compatible, next to the Steam Deck it may be the best way to play the entire series (if my prediction is true which it probably won't be lol) on the go

I was able to play both ishin and zero vita apps with save files that pretty much unlocked everything from the base game on my hacked vita. Graphics aside, playing y0 on the vita with all styles unlocked is akin to playing half of the game with only coliseum battles. Ishin on the other hand feels like playing a full portable version of the game with all weapons, styles and missions unlocked. Kind of boggles the mind that there wasn't a native port of Yakuza 0 or ishin on the vita.

No. I love Yakuza, started with Kiwami, and I felt inclined to go back, but I didn't regret my decision and beat the whole game. You can realistically start with any Yakuza, but Kiwami is one of the better ones. You'll miss out on some references to 0, but it isn't a deal breaker in any means, especially because the story doesn't rely on an understanding of 0.

I knew about the Ishin companion app but I didn't know what it did, I'm definitely going to check it out later. Also what do you think of the PC version of FF16? I'm absolutely loving it but god it struggles to run well. While I can mostly hit 60FPS it's basically constantly at 540p using Dynamic resolution, and that's on a Ryzen 5 3600 and RTX 3060, which while it's not the best PC it's can run almost everything else at Max Settings 1080p at well over 100 FPS, so I'm shocked at how poorly it runs. I'm still having a blast though, even if I do have to see the game through Vaseline.
