We finally got a good look under our collaboration Mopar, and turns out we were pleasantly surprised. Now that the brakes have been gone through and fuel system rerouted, the next step is a minor floor pan repair, and then back to our shop to give the engine a supertune.
PLUS we check out a creampuff one owner 67 442 convertible.

The coat hanger on the exhaust is a make shift safety device in case the front u-joint breaks and the drive shaft drops. Similar to a driveshaft hoop for racing. I saw my dad do the exact same thing on an 64 chevy stepside. Two weeks later we replaced the u joint. I guess money was tight

My father had a '67 442 convertible...red with a white interior. I was born in '69 and my earliest memory is riding in the back of the car with the top down, dad behind the wheel and my older sister riding shotgun. I have a couple old family pics that include the car. Dad once claimed he drove from Massachusetts (I wanna say Cape Cod but I could be wrong) back home to Rochester NY in 3.5 hours in that car and got a speeding ticket 2 miles from home.

When Tony visits Kiwi as I am a kiwi and kiwi sounds like a kiwi I am unsure if Tony is in kiwi land or kiwi is in USA land, confusing stuff, Kiwi "Gidday Mate" Won't be long before you get your Jandals and togs out and hit the bach and hook into some DB, that Satellite looks a real beaut! Sweet as Bro, Chur! (we speak a different language down under, Kiwi can translate :)

That 442 is amazing. How a car can be around more than 50 years without being modified or "Mickey Moused" in any way amazes me. I think the Satellite 6-Pack clone is a great contrast to it. To me the 442 is a special car that was wisely left alone, where the Plymouth was a ho-hum car that someone made special. Like I said, nice contrast. I'd be happy with either one in my garage.

@MJTAUTOMOTIVE

The early Ford diffs were called Traction Lock or just a Trac Lock. Detroit Lockers were not fitted at the Factory to standard Ford Vehicles. They Were fitted to the Shelby's and to the very few Factory Drag pack Cars. I think they could be fitted at the dealer, But it is Very rare to find a Ford with a Detroit Locker in it. They are very clunky and noisy to drive on the street.

Well, it's not the all mighty 1966 Olds W-30 with Ram Air, but I guess a 67 will do. Fact is that 67 is pretty dog gone rare as well as it was a factory A/C convertible, only a few hundred built with A/C ! The 67/ 400 motor was the last year Olds used a forged steel crank in there motors as everything went cheap ass cast iron in 68 so the 67s were the last breath of true Oldsmobile performance as the 68 & newer cast cranks were limited to spin bearings around 7,000 rpm and no more full on power shift at 8,000rpm up after 67.

@@mickangio16 The 455 in stock form was limited to 52 to 5400 rpm and a safe range is 4800. The 425 can rev higher and the early 400s with correct cam and springs 65- 6700
@hydroy1
@hydroy1 2 жыл бұрын
@@mickangio16 I do 8,000 with my 330s, 400s,425s no sweat, hydraulic lifters don't float till 8,800 so 8,000 is no big deal with a factory forged crank & rods with ARP hardware & the motor is properly blueprinted and is set up to do it, so it's no big deal. The 330s can go even tighter 8,200 to 8,500 all day. We got a 330 Olds right now ( called The Bottle Rocket )running 9:60s in the 1/4 mile at 137mph goes through the traps at 8,900rpm with solid lifters & 6:14 rear gears for 5 seasons now. L/F inside of the tire looks shiney. Brake fluid leak? (I couldn't see it so good.) But madon! That underside is really solid. Even 20 years ago you couldn't find a car in that shape in NY. Usually you'd need hi-jacker air shocks to get it's ass off the floor, and a shit load of welding where the torsion bars mount under the front seats. That car is a rare beast.
