Kix's simplicity is what always fascinated me. The fact that they didn't overload it with sugar and put a buncha games and toys on it was kinda cool. They didn't pander. I absolutely love this cereal and it tastes fantastic

I LOVE Kix. I think you're a bit hard on it for lack of sweetness, at least it's relatively unaltered for 80 years unlike its Kellog's counterpart Corn Pops.

I couldn't agree with you more about Kix as a kid I remember that was the cereal I and all the kids I knew HATED lol. Shocked that so many amazing cereals got discontinued yet the bane of cereals somehow still exists.

I think it's good for kids. Unfortunately, my parents just let me eat lots of sugary stuff as a kid, so once that world was opened up for me it was hard to enjoy cereals that weren't drenched in sugar.

Berry Berry Kix was first test marketed only in Minnesota during the Fall of 1992. It launched Nationwide after New Years in 1993. It was on the Market in its original recipe for about 11 years. The Last time I saw it in its original formula was in August 2004.

I often used to eat Kix at the college I used to go to when I wanted a sweet cereal without the sugar hangovers or nutritional guilt that came with more conventional "sugar" cereals. I personally thought it was quite sweet-tasting for only having the same amount of sugar as Corn Flakes.

Kix was a cereal that gave you every reason not too buy it. They literally told you in the commercials how boring it was, yet we still bought it. Even when Berry Berry Kix was out, my mom still bought me regular Kix.

While Berry Berry Kix is bland it at least can be eaten in realistic quantities. I believe it has 110 calories per 1 1/4 cup as opposed to other cereals that advertise 120 per 3/4 cups on the lower end of the spectrum. That's actually quite rare for cereal.

I LOVED Kix as a kid- AND I STILL DO! When I was a kid I put honey on cereals that were not sweet enough on their own, such as Kix, and I actually LIKED THIS BETTER than sugar cereals! Today we have Kix with honey already in them-but I still sometimes chose to eat the plain Kix with honey drizzled on top for old-time sake!

Plain kix are one of those cereals that are better dry for munching than normal but I love the honey ones. I'd love to see an episode on honey graham O's. I think it is one of the most underrated cereals of all time!

You forgot to mention that up until the early 2000s. Kicks it a very distinctive somewhat sweet taste to them despite not having a lot of sugar. I don't know what it was but it's tough doing it at some point now they just taste like soggy cardboard. As for the change in beriberi. That was most likely the effect of parents having a problem with something sugary being in a supposedly healthy cereal. And the fruit shapes are kind of just phase out how to save money. Same thing happened to tricks.

This is one of the few cereals that I consider to be edible. It's been years since I bought any, but I'm willing to eat it if it's all that's available. That said, I don't think I'd like the flavored versions, because those have more added sugar and are likely too sweet for me. My idea of a sugar bomb cereal is anything with more than about 5 grams of added sugar per serving. In my book, some 95% of cereal products are sugar bombs.

I have to disagree Gabe. Kix has just enough sugar to provide the sweetness I’m looking for when I feel like eating a healthier cereal. Not all cereals have to be sugar bombs and pandered to children. I love those sugary cereals but sometimes I want something more wholesome like Kix, Basic 4, Crispix, Cheerios or Rice Krispies. I think you are MASSIVELY underrating Kix.
