One thing I figured is that the train of transport varies depending on departure time such as day time vs night time such as shuttle Bus, Nankai, Haruka, Rapid, and Metro. I am using "Japan Transit" app and it tells me many different ways going from KIX to Osaka/Umeda area. There are many services offered during daytime, but for night-time I personally prefer Haruka to Osaka station (w/JR pass), and then walk 10 min to Umeda metro area. Of course I need to match up to the Haruka schedule or I would ended up taking Rapid-Kyobashi.

Thanks for watching! As you say, there are many different methods, and it would be nice to be able to use them at different times of the day. A new platform will be opened in March this year in an area adjacent to Osaka Station, and the Haruka will stop there, making access from the KIX even more convenient.

@@scrollmapjapan9199 True. We discovered that Google Map is the best app to use in Japan compared to others, as it will list out possible trains at different times and their cost; as well as how to get to certain places by walking. We had the 4 days JR pass as well as ICOCA, so we leverage both JR and Metro Subway based on our location of interest. On day 1 we used the JR pass and took Haruka from KIX to JR Osaka Station (Instead of Nankai or JR Kansai Rapid); and then leverage Haruka going between Osaka, Kyoto, and Tennoji on different days and adjusted to specific minutes for Haruka since it is only available in 30-60 min interval. Then we used ICOCA go between Shinsaibashi metro station and Umeda metro station, since we don't want to walk back to Tennoji or Namba station just to take the JR osaka clockwise. And one of the day we used both JR and ICOCA together to go from Osaka to KinTeTsu-Nara metro station, where we inserted the JR pass, and tap on ICOCA during train transfer (This is something new to me and luckily I understand some Japanese where the station attendant told me what to do after I just inserted the JR pass during train transfer the first time and unable to get pass the gate). Personally we believed that Osaka is less crowded than Tokyo, but the Osaka underground life along with the underground maze walking between Kita-Shinchi, Hanshin, Hankyu, Umeda (East and West), Osaka, HepFive, etc are quite the killer. It literally took us a week just to figure out how to navigate the underground paths that leads to different stations, department stores, and restaurants. Also, we figured out that it is best to reference Google review on nearby restaurants and if the review volume is high with 3.9 and above, the restaurant is worth to try; but if it is less than 3.8 then the food is below average; and the general understanding that we have is that those underground restaurants are franchise and therefore many of them are rated around 3.5 and indeed we tried quite a few of them that they are below average.

Can you buy a Icoca card on that same machine you used and use the Airport express train to get to Namba station? Or do you have to buy individual tickets? Also does a 4 year old child need to buy a ticket? Thank you

Thanks for watching. Using an ICOCA card bought at the same machine, you can take the Airport express to Namba. Please charge cash each time there is a shortage. Child under 5 years old do not need a ticket.

Hi there, thanks for the great video. May I know what card I should use if only travelling within Osaka? Also will be going up Rinku Town Station from Kansai Airport - do I still purchase tickets from the blue machine? Thank you!

Thanks for watching! In Osaka, any IC card can be used, including SUICA. However, they are not automatically charged, so you need to pay attention to your balance. Only ICOCA card can be purchased in Osaka. Blue machine if you use the JR line, red machine if you use the Nankai line. Either way, you can get to Rinku Town. Both tickets 370 yen and the ride takes 5-6 minutes.

Hello is both suica and pasmo usable for all train and bus pass?

Do I still need to purchase ticket if I already have suica card? Or May I just scan card at the gate?
@scrollmapjapan91992 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. It can be used on almost all trains and buses. Simply scan your card at the gate to use it. However, Suica and Pasmo cannot be purchased in Osaka. Please note that the charge will not be made automatically. www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/howto/guide/
