@@taegotkash Excuse me? I studied slavery all throughout school, and I know a lot about history. Of course I knew the laws and they owned them. It's called speaking metaphorically. I am questioning what made them feel justified to treat slaves this way because of their arrogance and racism. I know the laws gave them the right to do it.

I don’t get it? Surely - hopefully - I’m misunderstanding this scene because from where I’m standing it looks like this was almost about to become a r*pe situation if Noah hadn’t walked in? Missy was literally pulling Kizzy’s dress up, asking if she had any ‘hair down there’, Kizzy tells her to stop, Missy continues trying to forcefully pull her dress up and then tells her it’s her RIGHT to inspect Kizzy’s vagina? :/:/

@@noorrougelewis6704 but that still doesn’t equate to it being “fair”. If they’re slaves that means they don’t have a fucking choice. 😐 those circumstances were slaves ended up having a master that was merciful if you can even call it that to allow them a less harsh experience while in bondage was rare if not ever. The only type of Caucasians that we’re doing anything to help Black people back then were the ones that were participating in the underground railroad and other projects that led to Black people accessing freedom and education. Most people who lived in plantations were the masters allow them to not be sold or still treated like second-class citizens in terms of common decency most of them were raped and taken advantage of. can you explain to a person who has not read the novel roots. Why didn't Missy Ann the owner's niece help Kizzy
@allshookup1640
@allshookup1640 5 ай бұрын
Well she couldn’t really do anything even if she wanted to. She didn’t own Kizzy. Plus she was “just a slave” at the end of the day. She was coming into her role as a young lady and future slave owning wife. Missy also would have gotten in big trouble if she did fight for her. They would see her as a “slave-lover.” She’d be mocked. In the book they have a 4 year age gap and kind of drip apart. The miniseries has the sale as punishment for Kizzy.
