They had quite the operation going. Two helicopters even! Landing in such a small space too… I’m just starting to learn, and think I’ll appreciate that even more once I start learning to plan landings.

It's the annual BASE jumpers operation. Gradually other flying sports have joined. The area is protected by the nature concervation act so helicopters are just allowed to land there those 4 days a year. I find landings the most fun part of a flight.👌 Just maybe on par with a vertical cliff launch. 😆You will do fine when you get some experience. Good luck with your training and stay safe 👍 And do post some videos on your channel.😀

Yes 👍 There was a steady flow of base jumpers landing all the time, so landing on the grass was not a great option. Neither was the water 🤣thanks 😊

@@TheFjordflier Sorry, but when misinformation is posted by you my lifelong love of the sport hang gliding kicks in. There is NO hang gliding landing approach that is better prepared than using the intended LZ as a visual to safely glide you in.. Using a pylon or a tree or a road sign or some other BS like you promote to make your final approach turn to land is pure rubbish. Your near river landing using a pylon is proof of that!!!! If you don't want expert feedback regarding your posts, don't post stupid s***!! You are a rookie compared to the 49 years of hardcore flying I did.

@@TheFjordflier Oh, there is reason to continue this conversation (this is not a debate). Eyes on the intended LZ is the safe/reliable way to land safely in ANY LZ. Remember that landing of yours when YOU used a ground reference (not the LZ) to make you final turn and you came very close to landing in the river??? You had a huge LZ and you nearly landed in the river because of your flawed approach!!!! How did all those "tools" you take about let you down that day???

Awesome as always! I don't get those dudes, spending on heli rides, build a catapult, to fall a few seconds, but show no interest in actually flying? None of them ever showed interest?

Thanks as always! I think they are happy with what they are doing. Those few seconds are pretty intense I would guess. I do understand them. If everyone is happy at the end of the day it's fine for me 😄 I get a bit of both worlds 😉So I'm happy 👌

Forgot to add: The helicopter rides are only 4 days a year. The rest of the year it's a 2-3 hours hard hike/climb to get up there. So something must make it worth the effort for those few seconds of flight 😉 Cheers. Edit: Quite a few of them actually do other flying sports. Like speedwings, paragliding or hang gliding.
