@23magneta8 жыл бұрын
His definition of love works when you are young, but as you get older (50+), you become more jaded and less carefree. You become more practical and looking for passion goes out the window. You have a lot more to lose when you are older (houses, cars, money, etc) if you choose to get married or live with someone. It becomes more difficult to discern whether someone "loves" you for you or whether they love the security of being with you. Many times older people get into relationships out of fear of being alone not because they truly love the person they are with. It is possible to find true love when you are older, but it is much more challenging!

"Oh I think falling in love is the same as it's always been. I think it's as-its as surprising and shocking and chaotic and beautiful as it's always been... You can't... You know you can't... The heart is uncontrollable you can't legislate for who you fall in love with. You just... It happens. so i- I think the structures for how we try to organize it intellectually have changed, but evolutionary we haven't evolved... I think you fall in love with somebody and you can't explain why you do it you just do." "But if you have a checklist is that really love? D'you know what I mean? That might be someone you're trying to sync up with and live with, or someone you're trying to share your life with or share something with. So... You're trying to construct a relationship where you can run in parallel and work together... But that's... is that love? I don't know... I think real love is about acceptance and about truth, and about um... About vulnerability and uh.. A-and I think... when you really can accept someone for who they are and that's what real love is." -Tom W. Hiddleston

Tom Hiddleston is so pressure. Why do most of the Avengers men are so swoon-worthy? Not just because of the physical qualities they have but also because of their personality. Tom has this classy, shy, gentleman aura. Chris Hemsworth is husband goals. Mark Ruffalo is father goals. RDJ is very friendly and very inclusive it's so refreshing to see. I don't know if it really matters on opinion but I think with love in the past people weren’t shy about it. I mean now we aren’t shy about sex but when it comes to love we hesitate to try to truly connect with someone whereas back then they weren't forward about sex but they courted someone in order to make a deeper connection with them and went out of their way to be romantic and prove that love was what they wanted that that person that they loved was important. they didn't hesitate to court someone but they hesitated to make the commitment I think so that they could make a deeper bond before marriage. that's something you don't see anymore and I think that's why relationships now have such a short shelf life. it's just an opinion.

I like how the interviewer mentions that as you get older, love comes with a checklist. I've met way too many couples who've mentioned that "i was young and if i'd known he/she was like this, then i would've changed my decision''. Like even though love is blind, there must and should even be a rational side to it. I really liked her pov on this topic. such a great interview, made me think about love in ways i never had.

That's more about self love at that point, protecting yourself. Which is important. But you may not love your checklist partner the way you loved your earlier partner.

2:11 that’s one of my favorite quotes from him... he’s so passionate and committed to his work it’s sad to think that he hasn’t found romantic love yet because he definitely deserves it

bicooo1 Very true. I am alone for the first time in my life due to the death of my husband and while it is lonely, i'm not sure i want to start over again with someone else. In my age group, many widowers are just looking for someone to take care of them when they get sick. I've been a caretaker for much of my later life between parents and m husband and i don't want to do it anymore. With a younger man, you have to worry if they are after your money. I adore Tom and he would be my ideal man but he is much too young for me. Such a shame!

You have no idea how utterly happy I am that he basically admits to being an Atheist. He's not rude about it. He just says that this life is all we get in such an eloquent and honest way, and that's all the confirmation I need. It's the one thing I was never certain about until now in regards to him. I've been so worried he was religious. Don't get me wrong, there's *_absolutely_* nothing wrong with that, but I am an Atheist myself, and it's so nice to have a kind, articulate, true gentleman who is so well-loved, and also an Atheist.

That's why he is so unhappy for many many years. Life has no meaning if it ends in the ground.
@mad_pac-man9 ай бұрын
@@Brisingam That's a lie. In fact, it has MORE value and meaning if it is temporary. Speaking from experience, life is worse with the constant, looming obsession with death and the hereafter. Christianity is a death cult. Plain and simple. Once I was free, I was finally happy. And I still am to this day. Atheism is honest, and gives more purpose to LIFE than the idea of an afterlife, which puts all emphasis on death...and the uncertainty of if anything comes afterword, or what that might be. Nevermind that the Christian options are a Stepford Wife, mindless worship eternity, or a torturous hellscape. Neither is desirable.
