Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper's car hit by semi-truck while making traffic stop on I-44

Troopers say 36-year old Sarabjit Singh was driving his semi-truck above the speed limit on on I-44 westbound east of Highway 75, when the trooper attempted to pull him over. The truck driver than ran into the back of the trooper's patrol car.

In the U.K. it would be used if the driver failed to stop, they would have around 4 cars and box the car in, yes it results in them all being damaged. Very hard to watch when they are all brand new BMW’s.

Steve Crawley if done correctly it works. You don’t slam on the brakes, just reduce slowly. The UK have far better driver training really, the roads policing unit are well versed and regularly practice these manoeuvres. The worst case scenario is they mobilise police vans or lorry cabs which are part of police fleets

You missed WHY the trooper break-checked that truck. Trooper was convinced the driver was altering his log records - "looking down, writing" after they made eye contact. If the driver was illegally altering his log, driver OBVIOUSLY intended to stop. Trooper wanted to catch this driver with the log violation, so he wanted the driver to stop immediately. Speeding was just an initial reason. After the trooper saw driver writing, the log violation became priority.

I had a state trooper do that to me years back in PA. And as he exit his car he laughed at me saying: you’re actually pretty smart I wasn’t expecting you to stop that quick and I was like so why would you even do that? And he was like: I just want to see how safe you are for other people, have a good day and left 🙈🤦‍♂️ And there you have me sitting on the side of the road going crazy just thinking 🤔 so why in the hell would anybody do that stupidity? Such as cutting you off like that, just to see how safe you are on the road or see if you’re not falling asleep🤔🤯 cuz he admitted that he did it on purpose and like I said I was happy that he didn’t give me a ticket cuz once we stopped he only came out his car which was right in front of me and told me what he told me and took of in a matter of seconds. The truck is clearly off the road and look at the point of impact. So it’s clearly the trooper stop in front of a moving semi truck! Remember the truck can not stop in a short amount of distance. At least that’s what an OKLAHOMA trooper told me!!

My assumption, since the reporter failed to ask any in depth questions, is that the trooper pulled in front of the truck and expected it to stop quickly. Of course, the truck couldn't slow down as fast and simply ran into the back of the troopers vehicle.

Mr. Singh has an okay DOT inspection history, out of service for brake issues. Hopefully, Mr. Singh doesn't ever need to use his defective brakes when he's behind your loved ones. After court on Tuesday. The Judge says to the Semi driver... YOUR FREE TA GO. The cop lied, Lied, Lied, n couldnt keep his Lies straight. The judge did stick em with goin 77mps. that's 17mph over the limit... Again i say: as God is MY only needed witness, the driver wasnt speeding. he didnt get any jail time, n they didnt persue any criminal charges against the semi driver... AMEN N THANK YOU JESUS for choosing me to be his only needed witness... couldnt a done it without u. oh n thank you for Mr. John Eagleton, the lawyer that had a ton on his wings, yet soared right thru... The Lawyers name shows me, u chose him, personally... FYI... the driver is a Christian, a U.S. Citizen of over 10yrs. from India... very nice, polite gentlemen, he and his nephew. I drive a truck, there is no way they had eye contact. With the truck's height and the Suv's height eye contact can not be made unless the cop was leaning over in his seat. I don't even see that happening for the gear the cops have in the middle front, laptop and such in the way. But if the cop was able to lean over and did so, that means he ( the cop ) is now driving recklessly with his eyes off the road at 80 mph. Also, we have good and bad cops. Same as we have good and bad truck drivers. We can't blame them all for the few bad ones out there.

He was attempting to pull over. He was NOT able to stop on a dime, due to a small compact car on the ER lane side. The cop couldnt see the car as the cop was on the opposite side of the truck than the compact car was on. Sheesh. he slowed as best n safe as he could. had his blinker on indicating he's working on pulling over. all the broken glass directly under the vehicle says that trooper had already stopped completely and didn't leave enough room for the semi to bring all that mass to a stop. The cooler slid forward on the semi passenger seat would indicate he was trying to stop. Cop tries to make it sound like he hit him at full speed.

That’s why I have a dash cam on my truck. Did anyone hear how it’s a big chunk of information missing after he said the trooper got in front of him. Obviously the man was slowing 80,000 lbs down and someone underestimated someone stopping distance when they got to the shoulder. Shouldn’t be going to jail though.

The damage looks more like a side-swipe than a blatant ram. The trooper probably tried to get in front and ended up clipping the front of the truck. I almost got hit twice by cops weaving through lanes during a call.

Looks to me like the trooper backed quickly into the truck when it was already at a stop. All of the debris is in front of the trucks bumper on the ground. The truck could not have been moving at the time of the collision.

you are right...the cop backed into him look at the damage and position of both vehicles they dont line up front to back the cop is in the pullover lane and in the lane of traffic while the semi is also the road as he should be...... cop definitely backed into him not enough debris in front of truck for him to have hit the cop.

i was there, i witnessed all of it. what the trooper says. simply aint so, yea no. i was so tramatized n in awwh as to what i was seeing. i hadda pull over ahead n continue to watch the state troop not only cause the accident but draw his gun on the guy. all i could do was sit there n cry, i watched til i couldnt watch no more...
