i like to imagine our mouse friend met another mouse, had a family, and is telling his kids about the time he survived the day his house started moving, being taken to a whole new world, and then being lifted into the air by a giant. Hope our mouse friend his having the time of his life right now.

As an arcade technician I've had to do the throwing out of arcade games, some are harder to throw out than others. I felt really bad about having to junk a Time Crisis 4 cabinet, also felt bad about the pair of Sega Rally games. Not too sad to see the old skee ball games go, though.

Having help is the biggest difference you can make. Unfortunately I was alone in trying to restore my GX pads when I bought them, and I spent about 30 hours over two days and only got a tiny fraction of what youve got done done. Now that I see how nice it looks coated I want nothing more than to do a complete tear down and re-restore all over again. Awesome video, keep it up.

There's something really beautiful about making old things new again, especially when there's a passionate community behind it too. Even though it's still very expensive to restore something, maybe sometimes even more so than buying it new, it's just so good for the world to make use of what of what already has been made before letting it go to waste.

Hey, scratched plastics that are smooth/transparent? Use Nu Tone Scratch doctor and then buff pads on a power drill UwU. We use that alot at my work for laptops, consoles, etc. Also make sure that it the plastic has an image on top like a decal that lights up that the image isnt on the top where your polishing but on the bottom or you'll sand away the decal :3

Love this!! As a semi-retired DDR player with a bunch of triple A's under his belt, it's great to see people learning the ways of maintaining machines. Quick story, 25 year arcade tech, got a job working for namco arcade as service tech. DDR ws kinda dying at the location, due to horrible pad conditions. First week on the job, cleaned and re-did all the controls, and lights, and it became the hotspot for DDR again.

This was a very interesting experience to watch! I’m actually a part of a rhythm games club at my school! We maintain a cabinet for our club and a lot of the things you’ve done in this video are very familiar to me. (especially the whole pouring your wallet into it haha) It was so fun to watch you learn from this whole experience, and I am so glad you found the rhythm gaming community online. They (as well as our club alum) have always been a big help whenever we need advice on cab maintenance. It’s always really cool to find another person who is just as into these cabinets as we are:) Good luck with your build, and I hope everything goes smoothly! I can’t wait to see the finished product!

I would absolutely LOVE to buy an arcade cab for PIU. I played PIU:Exceed and PIU:NX from 13-18. My highest difficulty ranking was in the low 20's. I remember being so ecstatic that I could FINALLY get onto the leaderboards on the cabinets. Nightmare difficulties are insanely fun, but as I've gotten older and since PIU is WAY more niche than DDR (in the states) I've had to just go with a pad I got overseas. It's good ENOUGH, but for $600 I really wish there was more thought put into some of it's features (like they wanted a TON of money for a bar, but I'm good on that). I can't be too mad since the game itself is really fun. This is a super cool video since PIU is impossible to get on anything that isn't arcade hardware (minus STEP F2) and I wish they would do another home console version or something

Absolutely love your videos and this one is very enjoyable, it's fun to just listen to this adventure of restoring the dance pad! A tip for future restoration if you ever do it again, I do this for my old consoles when they get really nasty: Use strong chemicals. There's only so much soap and scraping can do alone, but strong cleaning chemicals, and even basic things such as rubbing alcohol (Which rn is expensive since pandamic still going) does a much better job at getting any dirt out, even decades old crust. My PSone was legit a grayish brown because of the crust of time, just by using rubbing alcohol alone it return to a light gray, and became its normal colours when I brought in strong cleaning products. Just a tip I thought could help in the future!

There's a Pump It Up machine at the Celebration Station in my town and I had a lot of fun playing on it even if I'm not very good at arcade dance games. I'm honestly a noob but hey it's still fun!

1:08 Left hand drill bits work wonders as well, the kind that drill in the left hand direction. And an impact driver is always your buddy. It's a device with a bit at the end that you hit with a hammer at the other end and the hammer action forces the screw to unthread while also pushing down on it :)

I would hella enjoy if you made more follow up videos on the restoration for your cabinet. As a tinkerer that's not familiar with ddr arcade cabinets it's super interesting to see this. Also had to buy the kkclue plush he's adorable.

I like how you solved the bracket problem for the old pads. And nice job on restoring an old cab like that. This was fun to watch. Also, what version did it come with cause I'm guessing that it only had an MK6 motherboard. Thinking of getting an MK9 and either Pump XX or whatever the new version that should be coming soon? And keep us updated with the game. Also, cute mouse. If ya had kept it you should have named it BanYa.
