So... we're 8 out of 10 minutes into this video.... And this is less a conversation about "Clemon's National Championship win" and more about how Alabama lost.

I am sorry, you cannot blame the injury to Bo Scarborough for Alabama losing this game. You have other Running Backs that can do the job. Clemson made the decision to force Jalen Hurts to win the game throwing and he couldn't do it.

Ivan The Piff Master Clemson doesn't recruit on the same level as Bama. They're like 13th in the country right now in recruiting. Bama has been number 1 the last 7 years. Clemson will probably go through a transition period where they're good but not national championship good. That's just the reality for everyone who's not Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State and pretty soon Georgia.They just consistently bring in top tier recruits and can reload from year to year. I say Georgia because the last few year's they've been one of the few teams to rival Bama in recruiting. Don't get me wrong Dabo's a great coach. If he was at a place like Georgia or FSU that consistently ranks in the top 5 in recruiting then he'd probably dethrone Alabama. The man can coach. Yes some guys can end up being gems or busts once they get to college but there's a gap between 1 and 13 in recruiting. Bama is bringing in serious talent and if one guy busts well you have 5 others who are program changers. Clemson gets those guys as well but not in that sort of quantity.
@mrtron1850
@mrtron1850 7 жыл бұрын
All of that recruited talent didn't help Bama the last two years. Clemson was better than them last year as well. Clemson has shown they're as good as anybody at identifying and developing players. Heck it seems like half the SEC watches to see who Clemson wants so they'll know who to offer.

Andrew Koehn they do recruit elite QBs the real question is why can't they develop them and if you want the answer to that you have to look at Saban he puts his QBs in a box they aren't asked or required to do so much so honestly it stunts their growth. I honestly don't get why Top QBs go to Alabama that's the one position they don't have a pipeline of putting quality pros into the league you'd think recruits would pick up on this
@Gojifan01
@Gojifan01 7 жыл бұрын
Andrew Koehn the reason why Alabama can't recruit elite QB' s is because those QB want to be draft high in the NFL ,NFL teams don't like taking Qb' s because they produce good QB in college but not the NFL if that makes any sense

What's up with the Jalen Hurts bashing in this comment section? He did the most he could do. WRs couldn't get open. Hurts had to try and throw the WRs open the whole game. Alabama's game plan is one-dimensional. It's the only reason why it was easier to cover the pass. Not to mention, Alabama having to spam on passing attempts given of the lack of time since Clemson matched everything with offense. Calvin Ridley is not Mike Williams. Josh Howard is not Jordan Leggett. Gehrig Dieter is not Hunter Renfro. Lets face it, While Alabama is one of the best defensive and running teams. Clemson is the most complete tream there is period. There juggernaut offense and top 5 defense can easily match up against Alabama's d. Diversity beat one dimensional.
@newyork1975ful
@newyork1975ful 7 жыл бұрын
BamBam Bammer Clemson has a balance between passing and running. Clemson plays elite defense as well. Alabama is elite defensively, probably the best, but their offense, though elite, still relied on the run to the point of becoming one dimensional. They're not a bad passing team but they aren't advanced either. Clemson had more diversity in their offense scheme. Plus Alabama's defense was an elite run stopping team, not coverage team.
@newyork1975ful

I'm not all that sold that Scarborough going out was the reason Alabama lost. Henry had early success against Clemson last year and then they mostly shut him down. Clemson didn't let RBs take over whole games this year. Plus, Alabama had 17 points through 3 quarters with Scarborough in the game and nearly matched that in just one quarter without him scoring 14 points in the 16 mins or so without him. That's more points per quarter/minute for Alabama without Scarborough. Also, the Leggett rub was really a pick and should've been called, but the last TD for Clemson was legal and the DB actually initiated the contact with Artavis Scott. Scott just started in his direction, the Alabama DB was who initiated the contact. Alabama D's roughing and targeting 4 times but only being called once...Alabama still got the majority of beneficial calls.

I expected Klatt to actually know the NCAA rule on the last play, he obviously doesnt. I looked it up on the NCAA website.It says----Its an illegal play if player A actually puts a block on player B's defender, that did not happen.The officials stood by their call after the game..you would think the talking heads like this guy would try to be objective instead of taking a subjective view because the team they picked to win lost.

UAT can talk all they want, but Lane Kiffin not being there and calling plays killed them. Lane would have thrown the ball down the field at least two to three times during the game. Picks will always have to be legal because you can't force offensive players to NOT run their routes if their routes require traffic in certain areas of the field. If you outlaw picks, football will take a huge step backwards in the passing.

I think Sark is a fantastic offensive mind, and he will be great down the stretch for Alabama. But it is completely illogical to say he was great in this game, and in the fourth quarter he was abysmal. There were far too many possessions in the fourth where he would run on first down and then abandon it! a lot of open backfield, immediate roll outs from Jalen (which is by design from the coach). All this would accumulate to about 8 seconds off the clock and a 3 and out. Forcing the defense right back onto the field. Again Sark is a good coach, I truly believe that. But this game was not his best.

The guy is a true freshman who had little to no time in the pocket because Clemson was blitzing their linebackers. Also, Lane Kiffin was gone and so was the chemistry. With the situation he was in, he made enough plays to keep them in it. Clemson was just tiring out that Alabama defense in the 4th quarter.

I'm sorry Joel Klatt and Cowherd, but at 8:03, yall guys' discussion on the unrealistic expectations of Athletic Directors and fanbases that bring down the SEC conference is completely wrong!!! For programs like Georgia and LSU, it is completely realistic to expect to dethrone Nick Saban and Alabama because those schools recruit and acquire star talent that can compete with the Tide. That's why coaches like Les Miles and Mark Richt were fired. Those schools have the talent and the programs to compete and defeat Alabama.

Noah Peeler Do you think Ed Orgeron is better than Les Miles?
@noahpeeler7339
@noahpeeler7339 7 жыл бұрын
Nah I'm not saying Ed Orgeron is better than Les Miles as a coach, I'm saying for schools like UGA and LSU, when you acquire incredible talent year after year and that doesn't translate to wins, that mean its time for a change in the program. I think hiring Orgeron was a step in the right direction for LSU, Miles was a heck of a coach but it was time for him and LSU part ways.

The non-call ( 1 of 3 ) 1st quarter 2 seconds left clearly targeting, Mike Williams hit and held up (unprotected ) hit by alabama's #2 with the crown of his to crown of Of #7 Williams . #2 should have been ejected from the game. Frankly by you professional analysts lose any credibility you may have had. Players careers are ended in such a manner. Maybe you could also talk about something that actually matters is to read the Heisman Heist open letter. See if you can dissect and gain a little bit of knowledge.

Get lost. SEC is the dumbest conference. 90% of their football players don't even go to class. And most of the schools aren't even ranked on any top anything list academically. Compare that to the ACC where several schools compete against Ivy League schools in certain studies: Duke, UNC, UVA, VT, etc.

TraumaER 90% of SEC football players don't go to class? That's the stupidest statement I've ever heard. It's great how you make up false statistics to make it seem as if you know what you are talking about. How about this, have you ever taken a step onto an SEC university?

The SEC has been running coaches off for long before Saban showed up... Auburn was trying their hardest to get rid of Tommy Tuberville during his time there. They kept trying to find a reason to fire him but he kept beating Bama so for 6 years Auburn fans were calling for Tuberville to be axed and then finally 2008 happened and Bama beats Auburn and boom, Tuberville was axed and they haven't had the same sustained success since and this was BEFORE Saban won a title. Tuberville was 85-40 at Auburn with six 9+ win seasons and should have had an NC in 2004 and they ran him out of town with one 5-8 season BEFORE Saban went on his run, so the coaching carousel was there before Saban even set a new standard.

***** Chizik only won that NC because of Cam and he rode on the back of Tuberville's players. He was fired because he was an awful coach, never understood why he was hired to begin with, it's not like he had a history of success, he was coming off two straight losing seasons at Iowa State. He won a total of 5 games in two seasons at ISU.

The Leggett rub was indeed really a pick and should've been called, but the last TD for Clemson was legal and the DB actually initiated the contact with Artavis Scott. Scott just started in his direction, the Alabama DB was who initiated the contact. Go back and watch it. Alabama D's roughing and targeting 4 times but only being called once...Alabama still got the majority of beneficial calls.

Alabama sucks and is the most corrupt university in D1 football. They sell their recruits on NFL dreams when only like 10 even get NFL tryouts and maybe 1 or 2 make any real money in the NFL. The rest of their players end up with unaccredited degrees that no McDonald's will even look at.
@kdogg257

I don't see how Alabama sucks since they're playing for a national championship practically every other year. I don't think they sell their recruits on NFL dreams, but it is the perception that if you go to Alabama your odds of NFL are much higher than else where, because of the player talent, recruiting classes and also the coaching behind it, because of how well they develop players, especially defensive players. Its like John Calipari with Kentucky Basketball. But yes some of the players don't get the best degrees, but who's fault is that? Because I've heard with Saban everything is earned not given, so when did he say "yeah you play for me, you're gonna be in the NFL kiddo" because I'm sure he's said that to 0 of his recruits. Most people thing the universities are corrupt because of how they cycle athletes in and out of schools so fast because of their skill level and talent, but last time I checked its the guy who plays that makes the decision of what his degree is, and also when he'll leave for the NFL draft.

kevin rizzo if you believe that, I feel sorry for how naive you are of the 'system'. You think people go to Alabama because they like the school colors. The area sucks. The academics suck. Everything there sucks. The only reason players choose it is because of NFL promises.

thelightskinprince I don't need to know. All I know is that when I scroll on any US News World Report or any similar annual ranking system of any type of respected degree: business, engineering, IT, architecture, finance, etc. I don't see any SEC school. And I'm talking about lists that go 100 deep. I always said if I was in a hiring position, I would immediately trash any applicants from SEC schools. It's nothing personal. Just business. Can't pick a Roll Tide grad just because their football team happens to be good when I can't find Alabama ranked in any academic measure.

Problem was Bama's offense led by Hurts, couldn't stay on the field, which let the defense get extremely tired. I believe Alabama had 29 offensive plays in the second half, and Clemson had 29 in the 4th Quarter alone. If Hurts is able to take more time off the clock and get his defense some rest I don't think they would have been as carved up. At the beginning of the game they weren't missing tackles and they were playing good coverage (Deshaun wasn't playing great at the beginning either but still Alabama's defense was looking great). Then Alabama's defense just got gassed and started missing tackles and eventually let Deshaun throw the game winning touch down. It was a marvelous game and I'm glad I watched it. I wish Alabama could've won, but given our offensive talent outside of Bo, I'm not surprised with the outcome, because I think if Bo was in the game we would've had a better shot, because we could've controlled the ball much better. Still a damn good game and Clemson deserved it and earned the win. #RollTide
