Such a good and underrated episode. Thank you Rob for standing up for Stefan and pointing out Damon's hypocrisy. And I know Elena is conflicted about her feelings but I don't think Damon should be flirting with his brother's girlfriend, even under the circumstances (or should I say, ESPECIALLY under the circumstances since Stefan sacrificed being with Elena for Damon's life). Him throwing Elena in the water was so funny though 🤣 Also, the shirtless Alaric scene wouldn't have been weird if they hadn't made a point to wait like 5 seconds while Elena just stared at him and he looked down & realised he didn't have a shirt on. Fans love to point out the moments Damon has respected Stefan's relationship with Elena and has "backed" his brother, and while those handful of instances are always cool and awesome and show a positive side of Damon, we have to also acknowledge the other 95% of the time where Damon disrespects Stefan and Elena and their relationship by flirting with Elena and more, a lot more, like showing up naked in front of her or going thru her underwear or literally forcing himself on her... That shows a worse side of Damon and happens far more often, and therefor, have to be consider "the standard" for Damon... If we have to make a generalization (which I'm not usually a fan of) then it would be that Damon doesn't give a shit about Stefan's relationship with Elena... Also, the fact that Damon lost faith in bringing Stefan back and had to be convinced again, it's a bit of a: "really dude?... how many times have you fucked up and even hurt Stefan directly and he still doesn't give up on you?"

God Damon is such a good character but this episode very clearly proved my preference for Stefan & Stelena more 😅 Damon openly flirted and literally proclaimed his love for Elena WHILE she was dating Stefan and often told him to chill out. Not to mention him literally killing Jeremy because she rejected him 🙃 And ONCE AGAIN Damon is out there - knowing his brother did literally everything and basically sold his life away to Klaus to save him - only for him to continue to move onto Elena, slowly chipping away and wiggling his way into her feelings while Stefan is just being Klaus’ minion 😭 Damon is just a terrible relationship for Elena and he’s so selfish sometimes ugh. "I want you to remember the things you felt while he was gone," still gives me goosebumps to this day. the way Elena looks at Damon's lips like she wanted so badly to kiss him makes me go insane. the chemistry between damon and Elena is incredible. the journey of seeing damon and Elena's feelings starting to develop is so satisfying to watch. I also loved it when damon said "even in my darkest days, my brother won't let me die, so ill do the same in return." it shows how much damon cares for his brother and wants to save him. Damon's growth and development in these episodes are phenomenal to watch.

3 seasons in and I still don't get the whole Elena-Damon ship thing. I don't see or feel any genuine connection between them. Perhaps it's just poor writing or editing or acting, IDK. It seems like he's just there to further the plot in a less conceivable forced way or an attempt to throw a wrench in the relationship between Stefan and Elena. It's gotten weird and so forced that I'm considering not watching the rest of the show and just stopping here. In Twilight, the competition/struggle love between Edward, Jake and Bella made sense. I could feel the tension and was conflicted between who she was better off with or who would win in the end....but in TVD, i just don't see the big deal or the need for a ship between Elena and Damon. Damon as a character alone or in brotherhood with Stefan is very interesting and complex (would love a series just about the Salvatore brothers!), but when mixed in with the whole teen-drama ship competition, it just falls flat hard! I've really tried but could care less about ships or "Delena". The competition love triangle between Katerina and the Salvatore brothers even made more sense, felt real and more passionate!

I find the version of Elena who puts herself in danger to be very annoying. Rick is smart and logical, so is Damon, but Elena in these moments is like a child they have to babysit.

Meeting her first means nothing. Damon also stalked her, forced two kisses on her, killed her brother, threatened to turn her twice, and also made moves on his brother's girlfriend while Stefan gave up his life to save him. I like Damon as a character but Delena is just gross. Some of you Damon fans do jumping jacks to justify him being a bad brother. Its ok, you find him hot so you excuse his actions. Some of us can think critically and know that even though we like Damon as a character, Delena is just gross and he is not a very good brother.

Succesion's Colin Stiles- lol. But the Bill actor, Jack Coleman, was also in Heroes (as a main character), The Office, Castle, Cow Belles, or he might just have one of those faces. (But his story in the next episode(s) is incredibly tacky given the character is gay) I still get a kick out of 7th Heaven's David Gallagher having been in last episode and this one as Ray Sutton. When Elena was calling Damon a caveman, she was referring to him roughly handling her and forcing her toward the car- I feel like we used that particular expression a lot more only 15 years ago... maybe it was because of the Geico commercials. Next episode, I feel like this is more of a teaser than a spoiler, is a fun venture to Chicago with some cool flashbacks and great character intros.
