In the US, We have sirens that can do Hi-Lo Also, But don’t Work like this. Instead, We close the output of the sound with the damper (shutter). However The Federal Signal 3T22 DOES Close the intakes with the dampers for Hi-Lo. It’s pretty much a CS8 That Is Mounted Vertical With Horns. The Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1003 Is one of the ones that closes The Output.

@blackkey1976 these sirens were used as the alarm system at Broadmoor Hospital, a forensic psychiatry, or in more common words a lunatic's asylum. They were tested each Monday at 10am until last year, when due to the new building being opened and the rising costs and defects of a system which has been around for 5 decades, the sirens were decomissioned, there is one siren left now within the hospital premises, which is silently tested.
@FederalSystem700013 жыл бұрын
@jackcashel Both of those points have been addressed in previous comments. The 'buzzing' noise that you hear is resonance, possibly from within the solenoid mechanisms. It doesn't serve a warning purpose, and is not audible from a distance. There are not two sirens; the siren is on the tower in the background (on the left in this video), and the tower in the foreground (on the right in this video) is a venting chimney to remove underground gases.

There used to be a siren on the roof of Bracknell college. I remeber an escape some time in the 80s. I was in the 6th form at school and was 6"2. My 5"4 mum had to come and collect me as no one was allowed out until the all clear was sounded. He was caught the next day trying to sell his watch in Great Hollands shops less than 10 minutes from the hospital. It was both exciting and really eerie when itwhen off anytime other than the 1000 test.

2:48 Every CS8 I've heard when it winds down with the shutters closed always resonates in that weird way. I wonder why that is though I'm guessing it just has to do with the resonance of the two tones at that particular pitch.
@Sipex64842 жыл бұрын
A Federal Sign & Signal Type 7OC was documented doing that as well. I'm not sure if its the same reason for both sirens, since the 7OC has a big plunger that jams into the rotor, while the CS8 has a damper plate. Probably an air flow thing though. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5m4dWWIabqLrNU

@HotTop202 The main differences between a 1000T and a 1003 are the solenoid valves that allow the siren to produce a Hi-Lo or Pulse signal - the 1003 is equipped with solenoids and the 1000T is not. As such, the 1003 can produce a Hi-Lo signal and the 1000T cannot. The solenoids can be seen as the 'bowtie' at the base of the horn.

@hootergirlsrhot Perhaps partly, but not entirely. Remember, sound comes from the intake as well as from the ports. This model is not as large as a 3T22, and the model that is, the CS12, is about as loud as the Federal. The main difference between a vertical design (like the 3T22) and a horizontal design (like the CS8) is not so much the sound output as the sound coverage pattern - a vertical siren produces a circular coverage pattern, whereas a horizontal siren produces more of a figure-eight.

@@SirensTornado yeah it did jam eventually, and is definitely noticeable in later videos of it. At the time of this one, it sounded fine though. And yes, it's been removed - as have all the others afaik.

+Shannon Delaneyare you talking about the siren similar to these that got struck by lightning and went off? If you watch mrmattandchay the siren that got struck was siren G hence why it failed to test

it did not fail to test after it was de activated the voltage supple was cut off to the siren so when it was dead the vontage went to the remaining 12 triggering them the siren work forse take 2 & a half hours to shut of 1 of these sirens of manually
@childishtombino12758 жыл бұрын
Abbey Maddox Oh Ok so you are saying that when it got struck they cut off the supply and didn't connect it back again so it wasn't a matter of "oh it failed the test due to radio problems or whatever" it was purely because the siren wasn't connected up again after the mishap

What's under the square metal cage on the pole to the right and forward of the siren? And are all thirteen sirens tested at once, and all coding CS8s?
