Why This Modpack Is Great - STALKER Call Of Chernobyl IWP

After playing Anomaly and GAMMA for an unholy amount, IWP takes me back to the good old Call of Chernobyl days. Faster progression, simpler mechanics and surprisingly good gunplay makes it more refreshing too. Gamma is still my favorite but having an easier-more casual Stalker experience is really good too.

I liked iwp but switched back to gamma because there is much much more mod support for anomaly

IWP is hardly a modpack, but a complete redesign of Call of Chernobyl. So It's it's own standalone mod, not a modpack.

I've seen a lot of people covering this lately, getting very tempted to give it a try. Haven't played STALKER in a while, Radiophobia 3 was the last mod I played and I loved that but the author has changed it a lot since I last played.

Coming from a game design student, I can tell the modder absolutely cooked with the pip scope as there's barely any frame loss during gameplay. The AI enemies are excellent at finding covers, holding angles, and flushing the player out with grenades to the point they almost resemble the replicas from F.E.A.R. I still have a few complaints though, one being weapons still have different control_inertion_factor which is an extremely frustrating and outdated mechanic from the original trilogy that mess with the mouse sensitivity, another is the progression being way too easy as getting an AS Val in Cordon by killing a random military dude on railway bridge kinda kills the fun of exploring and progressing.

You've made me really wanna do an IWP series. I've watched all EPs so far and it seems great. Good timing too since I just finished my Monolith EFP run! Also are there any "bonus" mods your using that you haven't mentioned so far?

Not sure if Klean is using any but there are addons available that add more quests and main quests to the factions.

Calling this mod "Improved Weapons Pack" is one of those classic modding misnomers that I can't believe it's from the 2020s and not like 2009, when a modder would market something as a new texture for shotguns and just change the entire game the way he sees fit without mentioning it in the description. There was a mod just like that, it claimed to rework the weapons and gunplay but was basically a total conversion when you got right down to it, I forget what the name was (it's possible this is a descendant of that specific modpack).

Theres a youtuber who shows off the animations and in his disc you can find a google drive dl, i got it and no viruses, its 9.9gbs

I don’t have the patience or time to be installing mod packs to this game as I’m lazy and easily confused when it comes down to it but I really appreciate watching these games with a more modern approach and setting as the mechanics themselves are much better than games today. I just enjoy watching you play!

It got a standalone release just a while ago, I definitely recommend trying it now because all you gotta do is to install it and hit play

ive been really getting into radiophobia 3, its another stand alone that keeps the main campaign much like this one. It also has that anomaly detection item you mentioned would be cool, that doubles as geiger counter and in this mod it takes up an anomaly slot. sick vid dude!

Just a heads up C Consciousness Grass Overhaul over on the gamma discord works with IWP. Just unpack the mod into JSGME and turn the grass density up. Works wonders for the visuals

When I try this mod, my UI,HUD,text are all huge in 1440p. 1080p it looks smaller and normal. Any idea how to fix? The 4K text thing you can enable with the translation didn't do anything.

I think in the settings there's an option by the player POV slider that alters the scaling of the HUD UI, hope this helps!

Can anyone recommend a good modpack for Shadow of Chernobyl, that is similar to this or how IWP is for CoP? or the core gameplay of Anomaly/Gamma is? I Wanna play through the series from the start and would love it if I can get modpacks to improve the experience the whole way through.

Radiophobia 3. It's standalone, and its easier than gamma, but its pretty much what youre looking for.

OGSR + Gunslinger is a good addon that doesn't start too far from the original.

Radiophobia is definitely pretty good but be warned it it's closer to GAMMA in combat difficulty than it is SHoC. The other guy's recommendation of OGSR isn't a bad choice but it isn't as faithful to the original storyline. I mean the main story is still there and unchanged, but there's a ton of extra quests added that vary a bit in quality. It's a good choice if you've already played SHoC and want more stuff to do during your play through, and the Gunslinger version makes it even better. Can't go wrong with Gunslinger as a weapon/animation pack. OGSR + Gunslinger is also another standalone pack I think.

Yo man you know you change the grass size/density in the launcher right? You have zero grass lolol. Theres no fps hit. I use a 1660 super with grass on 1.3 so its fine

yeah 960 runs extremely smoothly with very small tweaks for performance

where anomaly come from, and a big thank to Doctor X for the quest lines. I'm on OP2 mod and i'm laughing at people complaining about stalker 2 difficulty . Global war is a good one too, warfare mod with 30 factiions , more maps (bigger than Stalker2) and more mechanics about leadership but with SoC engine

Call of chernobyl is a standalone mod but you do need call of prypiat installed in order to play it

Within one minute of watching I can already see that it's garbage. There's a new enemy type... ok? but it simply just reuses sounds from the zombies already in the vanilla game. That's super immersion breaking already. Changes gameplay AND breaks immersion. I wonder how much stuff is changed for no reason. Whatever.

Dont know why u keep grinding on Gamma, gamma is the absolute GOAT atm, it just needs better sounds, easier artifact crafting etc.. graphically it'd be hard to downgrade to these graphics after spending so long on gamma, it's beautiful. The mutants are WAY too spongy on this.. looks frustrating to play
