Klein& WTOP Keep Your Eye On Talent Promos 1977

From WTOP Washington and Klein&, the second wave of One and Only promos for Eyewitness News talent. These were quite hot and energetic for their time, when Channel 9 was the unchallenged news leader in DC. Promos are for Henry Tenenbaum, Susan King, Gordon Peterson, Pat Collins, Sonny Jurgensen, Gordon Peterson, Mike Buchanan, Mike Wolfe, Max Robinson and Maureen Bunyan. Mike Wolfe is a little remembered sports anchor, who had the unfortunate timing to be between sports legends Warner Wolf and Glenn Brenner.

Sonny was the NFL analyst on Mondays, co-hosted the local postgame show Redskin Sidelines as well as the Sunday pregame Countdown to Kickoff. He also did some fill in anchor work on weekends.

About midway in each promo, the music sounds a bit like Dick Marx' news themes at CBS O-and-O stations, based on "Chicago is my home."

Henry Tennenbaum is now in San Francisco Glenn Brenner now passed away Max Robinson left for ABC News in 1978, when World News Tonight premiered, and the comeback of Peter Jennings to come along with it. Warner Wolf is at WCBS New York. As for the tag team of Gordon Peterson and Maureen Bunyan, they left for WJLA ABC-7

Max Robinson eventually died of AIDS.

Max Robinson passed away in the late 1980s (I think 1987). Warner Wolf went with Don Imus, whose radio show was simulcast in Fox Business Network. Wolf has since retired; Imus passed a few years ago. Peter Jennings has also passed on.

Can't believe Maureen Bunyan was on channel 9 for some many years and both Gordon Peterson and Maureen Buyan ended up WJLA. That was weird seeing them both on channel 7.

Recently wondered whatever happened to Susan King. Found out she's now the Dean of the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Mike Wolfe dressed on Eyewitness News's sportscasts like he was going to hit the local discos in Georgetown after the 11 o clock newscast attempting to pick up chicks. Wolfe did the sports usually wearing an open shirt that exposed his chest hair along with a leisure suit. Thank God they canned him and promoted Glenn Brenner from weekends where he was there for years until his death.

As a child, I was not a fan of Gordon Peterson because he was on one of the most boring television shows of all time which was Inside Washington.
