Good luck buying if you don’t have a valid pilot license, current medical, adequate liability insurance, and a sign-off from the manufacturer’s flight instructor. That’s a very high bar. By design.

The thumbnail looked like something from my dad's Popular Mechanics magazines from 1970's. This one actually pretty cool, but totally impractical. I'm assuming tail structure slides up into body? If not use on city streets is problematic.

Not for the general public. It's a nice idea, but imagine this in the hands of your average half asleep cell phone addicted driver of today. They can't even MERGE, and that's movement in only 2 dimensions on a basically flat plane (like a table top). Add to this speeds that are multiplied, and a 3rd dimension - and just use your imagination. For qualified pilots, yes! But you won't be taking off or landing on any public roads. Nice looking car/plane, and a great idea, but not practical in today's society. But - I love to see the creativity, and no, it's not a waste of time. For a few under special conditions it may be feasible - and I'd love to see one in real life!
