@@joe8124 It's very different. What he's was doing was filling in the role of a guitarist in the context of RHCP. If it sounds anything similar, it's because you can't just expect them to completely change their sound just because John left. I don't see his Josh's playing as copying"John's style." Rather, i think that at some aspects, it may sound similar due to it being put together with the other instruments in the band.

I find it very harmonically unsatisfying, I kinda get the impression Josh is not really that skilled at songwriting with guitar. Like he's trying random things he doesn't understand and seeing what sticks. He can use his voice over chords well, so he's got good instincts, but those are some pretty whack inversions on their own.

@@user66792 I think I heard an interview with Josh where he said he's not really much of a guitar player and so when he got the role he has to start practicing. I kinda knew that by his performances but I think I can hear it in his compositions too, in particular this one. It reminds me of when I started writing my own music as an intermediate guitarist.
