I love how Kor appears with the TOS door sound in DS9. A salute to the Wisdom of the Klingon Triforce. He who must remember, and live on.

Kor was really amazing in DS9 especially when he took on 10 Jem'Hadar fighters with 1 Klingon Bird of Prey truly Amazing

It's really good how they brought characters back and gave them a proper send off. Always was really good writing, story telling and it is *Science Fiction!*

My older brothers knew John closely before his family moved away from our neighbourhood in Toronto, I believe it was before I was born but I know I never spoke to Mr. Colicos in person. I did see him from afar in 1991, briefly, at the 25th Anniversary Trek celebrations here in Toronto at Nathan Philips Square, introducing George, Nichelle, Walter and Jimmy Doohan that evening beforehand; both of them asked me if I wanted to meet the man they chose to call me by the moniker Sir Klingon before my birth certificate arrived. I asked 'Kor, the first Klingon on the show is a friend of ours?' My oldest brother nodded. "I imagine I'd feel out of place. What would I say to him?" "The same thing we did. We didn't know he'd played the part until he came back to visit, but he had no idea Trek was so important to us- and to you, I impress- until he returned." "So what did you say to John?" "That our uncle Richard, who taught advanced mathematics and physical engineering at L'Ecole Polytechnique also once knew Bill (William Shatner)." "Montreal. That makes sense, yeah. But what would that mean, that I told him something he did meant to me? I'm starting high school tomorrow. What do I have to share?" "You're an honorary Klingon, and that means a lot to a man like Kor. No one chooses the Path of Immortals, it chooses you." "I guess that might be so. I think I'll just watch, hear John's voice. I think I have more to learn before I address Captain Kor, of the Imperial Navy." "Fair enough. We're here, so know he's thinking of you; and he cares. I can say that on his behalf." I haven't visited John's grave yet, but I know where it is and I've been told I'm personally welcome if it's up to his family and mine; I can get there by local transit. I might do that soon. I figure the Second Dahar Master and I have some good things to reckon.

There's a channel on here that composed a "Dirge for the Dahar Master" dedicated to the character and the actor who played him.

TOS Klingons = best Klingons. Undiscovered Country close second. I liked when they were sophisticated cunning warriors. I'd like seeing a blend of TOS/TMP with less ridges mixed with a Conan/Kull style TNG but toned down a bit. In TNG seeing them as feral drunk savages all the time got old. STD Uruk-Hai orcs don't exist, they were a bad fever dream.

Yeah, what they did with the Klingons in STD is sad! I prefer the older versions as well. Qapla'

You can see the power of a true actor! John Colicos gave life to a true Klingon Warrior (It would be glorious!)

John Colicos is a legendary Science Fiction icon! He created not one, but two highly respected and amazing characters! I loved the side of him we saw on DS9 it was so bittersweet, and the love that Jadzia Dax had for him was obvious! She admired the three biggest 60s Klingons! Each one created the look and feel of what would go from enemy to friend! In the 1990s my favorite Klingon became Gorkon. David Warner is another iconic actor who created several memorable and iconic Star Trek characters. Human, Klingon and Cardassian.

I just wondered, what if the ridges appear when they get old enough and the ones fighting the Federation were youngsters? This could explain much.

There's an episode from Enterprise that explains this. I suggest you watch it.

If you notice the Kor, Kolloth & Kang's forehead ridges aren't as deep as other Klingons. Probably because they were orginaly augment virus Klingons (smooth heads).

Kor was great, but my favorite will always be Kang.
@megalictis9002 Жыл бұрын
More than any other actor, Michael Ansara's performance as Kang - aggressive, belligerent and taciturn warriors bound by a code of honor - set the standard for what Klingons would become in The Next Generation and beyond. But it was John Colicos performance as Kor, every syllable dripping with an almost manic menace and delighting in it, that sold Klingons as the primary antagonists of the original series. Even the look of Klingons was partly due to John Colicos as the show-runners had not defined the look of Klingons. "Make me Genghis Khan in space" he told Fred Philipps.
