I am 51 and stopped using cotton swabs to remove wax from my ears..I stopped not because I don't know the proper way to use them to clean out my ears...I stopped because I read an article that all cotton swab does is impact the wax further down your ear canal that if keep using a cotton swab you could damage your ear as well as cause major hearing problems....so now I use a product called Clinere it's plastic and it has a soft flexible scoop at the end that looks like the head of a spoon...on the other end of it is used for exfoliating your outer ear ...it's the best thing ever !!!

@@ednaaparecida5748 some people have a abnormal canal, so the wax trapped inside the canal. those wax supposed to come out by itself, but some people ears can't. my grandma had this disease, so we go to the doctor every year to get her ear checked and cleaned. it was 3 or 4 year before her death, and we forgot about her ear and didn't go to the doctor, she almost deaf before we go to the doctor. the doctor then gave a prescription and we used that med for about 2 weeks with every week checked by doctor, and the doctor successfully pulled her ear wax in the 3rd week

I use q tips every bath. If I leave it , a huge blob of wax comes out the next time. You have to be aware of structure of the canal and don't just cram in the swab. Rotating as you enter cleans it off but doesn't push anything deeper. Going deep but avoiding the eardrum is crucial. 73 yo and never had a problem. My mom used to clean our ears with just a hair pin! I think that's when she gave the tutorial!

This totally depends how you do it. I have to dry my ears every day or I will get an infection very quickly. But my ears are clean. I have had them checked several times and they were very clean every time. You should make sure you don't touch any walls when you carefully insert the Qtip and only one the way out you touch the walls. And don't go too deep. We only want to suck up the water that is all the way down there. Not pushing anything in.

I've been using cotton swabs to clean my ears my whole life and never once had any problems. I use them at least several times a week and my ears are always clean. I think the medical field needs to start teaching people the proper way to use them and to do it on frequent basis so that wax never has a chance to get built up in the first place. But that would cut business by a lot wouldn't it.

There's no way that was the same ear in the second half. But you are correct, it was also cotton fibers. Usually as a result of elderly folks using cotton balls instead of Q-tips to clean it their ears.

Been using cotton swabs in my ears for 50 years. Never had a problem.

The title does say "CHRONIC cotton bud use". As in they used way too much, like every day or something.

I use pieces of tissue paper rolled into stick shape to clean my ears after bathing. Works great.
