I'm living in thailand and I decided to upgrade my 5.2.2 to 7.2.6 And I do a lot of research about CDT and pro-180 to install on top middle speakers. I just grab the pair of pro180 rpc for 650usd I think it's a good deal. For my Personally I still want the "tilt" skill from CDT II. But from the same price point I decided to choose pro-180rpc because it's slightly new build date 😅 I hope I make a right choice because I can't tilt now but that's mean I trust in Klipsch horn and I want the best performance I can get from this budget. So I'm making a high hope I choose the right one this time.

@@TopShelfAudio 6 month for almost everyday use. I think I made the right choice. I put my pair of pro180 on the middle height channel it works well than I expected. I'm using a Denon x6700h with 6 Atmos channels with auro3D. Some movies like Ready play one, District 9, No one will save you works really nice - Read player one race scene I can get crystal clear when Kong is moving on my ceiling. - District 9 the most helicopter sounds are coming from the ceiling with more immersive. - No one will save you when ET jumps on the top of the house it's pretty nice too BTW I think if seating positions are not too far from the speakers I think it works really well without tilting options.

the 5800C II came after the pro 180, which is the best one in terms of performance? The pro cost more than the 5800

The Pro has slightly better performance but the CDT gives you the ability to tilt and swivel as needed. If you wont need to alter the directivity, go pro. If you need something more forgiving or have spatial constraints or limited positioning options, CDT is super helpful in overcoming obstacles. Both are great speakers though. -Jason

Have you guys ever reviewed the Klipsch PRO-180RPC LCR and their potential for very directional atmos?

I have not reviewed, nor have I personally heard them but, I did speak with the engineer around the time these were made. Based on his description, it *could* work...but the distance would need to be calculated carefully. I would lean more toward the CDT line for atmos. Those are more designed as LCR when you cant have your mains on the ground or in wall. -Jason

Another great video! I can't use bookshelfs for my new HT 5.1, is it possible and will be a good system if I use 5 CDT-5650-C II with sub Klipsch Reference Series R-100SW 10" 300W?

it can be done although not ideal. some in-ceilings such as the PRO-180-RPC LCR or the THX ones are angled to make this a better experience, otherwise your tweeters in the front are just firing into the floor and not into your ears. The ones you mention can be pivoted to get this same effect. They're a little bright though, some of the previously mentioned ones sound smoother.

So are the CDT more like the reference series and the pro more like the reference Premiere? I saw brochure that said “custom, designer, and pro series” for in ceiling speakers but I’m not sure where these CDT speakers fall in the range

No, the CDT were the best for awhile but then they came out with the more installer friendly PRO version. The goal was quicker install plus spend the money on sound quality instead of pivoting. They both have a titanium tweeter and cerametallic cone but the PRO is smoother, less bright. There are the ones like PRO-16-RPC that's more like the entry level Reference stuff.

So if i have a choice between DS-180C or CDT5800 c ii would you say the CDT5800 is the better buy since it has the titanium tweeter and cerametallic woofer opposed to the polypropylene woofer and silk dome tweeter on the DS180C? I thought the DS180C is a newer product, but I can't understand the confusing hierarchy

most anything will work but most people would try to save money and get a cheaper multichannel amp or let their receiver power it. People have used the Klipsch KDA-500, small Parasound amps, but mostly use a receiver.

Does an enclosure impact sound quality?

These are designed to be placed directly into the ceiling/in the drywall. The enclosures you see available are typically to pass fire codes in some states as opposed to altering the sound. -Jason

I'm concerned my ceiling frame is 5.5" between sheetrock and roof decking....(2x6) it says these < CDT-5800-C II> are 5.4" thick..... do you think they'll fit or am I going to have to make an ugly shim????

The specs Klipsch mentions for size are almost always maximum so, including grill and top to bottom at its largest point. Based on your description, you shouldn't have any issues at all here as long as you are even slightly above their mentioned size. -Jason

You drill should be set at the lowest torque to prevent stripping or over tightening the screws.

I can't make holes on my sealing I had to use M1s for firing down like in sealing I don't know how good they are because this is my first Dolby Atmos system

Makes sense. I had a situation like that and used the reflective atmos options available. When done right, down-firing like you have them or reflective like I had them work great as well! Fine tuning to get the best of your space is key. :) -Jason

@@TopShelfAudio my room is not good for reflective,I'm doing a 7.2.4 front highest and middle or back like in sealing I should get better with 4 highest channels,my room is small and it's my bedroom not a detected room so I have to experiment

Great video I'm leaning towards some Klipsch CDT, not sure which model yet. The atmos speakers I'm using right now have almost no dispersion. I am constantly adjusting them. They are bookshelf speakers on a shelf and pointed down at me. I'm getting ceiling speakers very soon and I don't want to buy the wrong speakers. I love how the driver is adjustable but how is the dispersion? I really want wide dispersion so every seat gets a great atmos experience.

Thanks for watching! These are actually my favorite two speaker options for Atmos and for in ceiling in general...but I do tend to favor the CDT a bit. The dispersion is great and the controlled directivity makes install and placement a bit easier and more forgiving. If you're looking for ultra wide, could always go with 4 or 6 atmos instead of a single pair but, thats a discussion for another day. -Jason

@Paducah Home Theater TV Thanks for the reply. I am going with 4 ceiling speakers placed at about 30 degrees in front and behind. The CDT-5650 and the CDT-3650 are my top choices. The 5650 has the tractix horn while the 3650 does not. Which Klipsch speakers to you recommend for a 4 speaker ceiling setup with good dispersion?

Both are going to have great dispersion. The difference between the two are the materials used to create the drivers. The 3650 uses the same materials as the reference line (aluminum/IMG), where the 5650 uses the same materials as the reference premiere line (Titanium/cerametallic). If the rest of your system is reference, go with the 3650 but if the rest of your system is RP, go with the 5650. -Jason

By themselves, no they are not. They are passive speakers so they would require an amp to function. Your amp and source will determine if you can connect to them via Bluetooth. -Jason
