I got these hooked up yesterday and I already had ceiling speakers hooked up and as of now I am NOT impressed. Maybe I was expecting more bass and I did switch it to the b and as of now I’m not happy. Maybe there’s some adjustments in the receiver to get more out of them. Not sure. Maybe my receiver isn’t putting out enough watts too. But keep the videos coming. I didn’t know you were a youth pastor. That’s cool. I believe in Christ myself. Take care bud

Nice speakers Youthman! BTW..your 4 back speakers are the right height for a traditional 7 channel setup. However, for Atmos, you have to drop them to ear height... .check the Atmos setup guide on the Dolby site. The reason behind that logic is that, at their current height, they will compete with your Atmos ceiling speakers.
@Youthman6 жыл бұрын
Hey Kevin...yes....I did discover that. Honestly I'm not sure what I can do since my side surround is at 6' because it's in the walkway as you enter the room. I didn't want someone smacking their face on it. Then the surround backs are mounted much higher than I would desire due to the entrance door being below it. My saving grace might be the 10' height of my ceiling to give it that separation. Won't know till we install the Atmos Speakers. If it sounds great, I won't bother. If it's not impressive, I might be forced to.
@kevinweithers12236 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I hear you Youthman. I face similar constraints in my room also as I have obstacles impeding my need to move down my surrounds in order to implement Atmos. One workaround might be to attach your surrounds with speaker brackets, while leaving them where they are. That way you can angle them down to point at ear level. This should work as they won't be firing high up anymore.
@Youthman6 жыл бұрын
A lot of people tend to think that if you have a Home Theater, you have the ideal setup. Nope....there are constraints and limitations just like the other guy's living room. But you take what you have and make the best of it. My surround backs have a custom mount that angles them directly towards the front row seating.

I've been debating for sometime on whether to go with either four Klipsch CDT-5650-C II or two pairs of RP-500M's for Atmos. I've heard that having the speakers enclosed in a cabinet sound better than the open design of some in-ceiling speakers. Also if I go with bookshelf speakers it will save me a few hundred dollars and allow me to place and aim them anyway I need to. My dedicated home theater is 12' x 16' x 8'. Your thoughts?

Hi, I have been so busy doing product reviews I haven’t had time to review my own personal products like the CDT-5800-C II. In a nutshell they sound fantastic but honestly I have never had Atmos speakers before these so I have nothing to compare them to. I probably would have gone with the 6.5” version but I was given a pair of 5800 so I decided to get a matching pair. My recommendation would be to get four of them as opposed to two. All of the research that I see online suggest that if it all possible go with for Atmos speakers because the whole purpose of them is to immerse you with audio and if you only have two speakers in front of you that sound does not also come from behind you. It’s like trying to do surround sound with only two front speakers and no rear surround

I don't know that's why I asked but for a good surround sound between the front and back from the pro-logic days to nowadays in my experience there need to be at least 8/9 feet of separation from front to back. and thought maybe if adding another 2 or 4 including if that stays the same or for optimal atmos performance, if there's, is a minimum requirement.

I would not recommend wiring two speakers to the same channel on a receiver as you will change the impedance. I would either upgrade your receiver to one that can handle additional Atmos channels or maybe get an external amp that can power your Atmos speakers
@MrModeratemuslim5 жыл бұрын
Great video, thanks. Question for you. So I have a 7.2 setup. I have dedicated emotiva amps running all 7 channels. I just purchased 4 of these (at retail!!!!!) to use as atmos speakers to achieve 7.2.4. Will these be audible using a denon x6500h as the primary power source (and emotiva for the other 7). Or would it be negligible upgrade over my existing 7.2 system. I'm asking becusse I can still return everything, lol.
@Youthman5 жыл бұрын
When I reviewed the 6400, it was able to power my 7.2.4 system. Granted my Klipsch LasScalas are 104dB sensitive so they don’t require much power to drive them to reference levels. The 6500 will have absolutely no problem driving the 4 Atmos speakers

So I've narrowed it down to either the CDT-5650-C II or the CDT-5800-C II. I'm thinking of going with 4x 5800 speakers. My ceiling is only 8' so the distance between the speaker and MLP will be between 6' to 8' . The seating positions to the left and right will be between 4' to 6'. Is that too close or just fine?
@Youthman4 жыл бұрын
Take a look at www.dolby.com/about/support/guide/speaker-setup-guides/ and just make sure your speakers are within the recommended angles.
@erikbee48944 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your quick reply and the link. I have the placements aready set as closely to Dolby's recommendations but there is nothing on speaker size. Due to the shape of the room the two speakers along the rear will be closer to the mlp than the two along the front. Which is why I provided a range in distance. My main concern is with the right and left seats from the mlp. The two rear speakers will be nearly 4' 6" from the ear of the listener. I'm thinking 8" might be too big that close. Perhaps I can just dial them down and set the distance in the avr using Audyssey. Any thoughts?
@Youthman4 жыл бұрын
Your AVR will balance the levels based on their distances. As long as you have them within Dolby’s recommendation, you will be fine. As far as size, that’s preference. I went with larger 8” in-ceiling but a 6.5” would have likely done well also.
@erikbee48944 жыл бұрын
@@Youthman Thank you so much for all your help. Like you I went with the CDT-5800-C II just to be sure. I was able to get an incredible deal from Mike at Acoustic Sound Design. Last week I was at a Best Buy store and was able to listened to a pair of Sonance 6.5" in-ceiling speakers and compare them with a pair of Klipsch PRO-180 RPC speakers. Though these were two different brands and not exactly the CDT II series it was the closest I could get to demoing the two sizes side by side. I found the Sonance 6.5" was more localize compared to the Klipsch 8" speaker. The 8" had more ambience and fuller range of sound despite being a bit loud. I have no idea what their crossovers were. Again, not exactly a fair and accurate comparison but I guess good enough for me.
@erikbee48944 жыл бұрын
Well I just got the CDT-5800-C II speakers installed in my theater and you were absolutely right they sound incredible. Their placements are close to Dolby's specifications. Not an exact match up but after a few listening sessions I honesty feel I have them exactly where I want them. This is likely due in part to their pivoting woofer and tweeter design along with the standard full rotation otherwise known as their controlled dispersion technology. As you stated earlier Atmos is definitely not a gimmick. It certainly opens up a whole new world to the cinematic experience. Can't wait to see what they come out with next.

Curious why you got such an expensive ceiling speakers for Dolby Atmos? This seems to be a common mistake by people opting for far more speaker for effects than really necessary. I can see getting these speakers if these are to be used for mains in a room and ceilings are the only resource. But for Dolby atmos I have to question your choice. I just don't see you getting much more "effect" experience with these expensive speakers vs a simple less expensive model in a similar configuration and size.

Hi Gary, the reason I went with them was for several reasons. 1) I was given a pair of CDT-5800-C for free so that meant I only needed to purchase one pair. 2) I got a really good deal on them. 3) I want them all to match. 4) My main speakers are (3) Klipsch LaScalas and my surrounds are Klipsch RS-62 II. Getting tiny speakers would have been drowned out by the other 7 speakers. With that said, if I would have had to pay $1200 for all 4, I likely would not have invested that much in Atmos speakers.
@garykarczewski66786 жыл бұрын
Well those are logical reasons, free is always good and I agree if you invest in a second pair and get a screaming deal on them outstanding. I have found excellent ceiling speakers new by Parts Express 8" ranging for about $52 -70 each which will do the job as well as the Klipsch for Dolby Atmos. $1200 for 4 Atmos speakers is way too much money for what you get being they are used for effects and would be far over kill. Now if they were playing full range main audio then that would be a different story I guess.
@Youthman6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I personally would be hesitant spending $1200 on ATMOS speakers.

at 6:20 how do you connect the two receivers to output one signal?

I don’t have two receivers connected at the same time. I was just stating I would be reviewing another receiver soon

I don't like in ceiling speakers however those look nice.
@Youthman6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Raymond. I have never liked in ceiling speakers either...for surrounds. But for ATMOS...it makes the most sense, as opposed to the lesser option of using ATMOS modules.

Holy fuck those are massive

Just a bit. But then again, I'm pretty used to having massive speakers. I mean...my center channel speaker weights 123lbs.

It's weird to hear him talk about these speakers as if he's never seen them before when he says he already has a pair.

Youthman what power conditioner and surge protector do you use. I’m looking to buy a Panamax mr5100. What would you recommend. Thanks
@Youthman6 жыл бұрын
Hi Shawn, I currently do not own a power conditioner and use an older Monster Cable Surge Protector for my gear. The 5100 has gotten really great reviews on Amazon and appears to be a solid unit. If you do decide to purchase one and use my Amazon Affiliate Link, they will provide me with a small commission that will help me continue to provide content on this channel. Here is the link - amzn.to/2KlfASe. It doesn't cost you anything extra to use it.

I thought you were going to play music so we can hear how it sounds? Video started well but ended up being disappointing.
@Youthman3 жыл бұрын
The problem is audio demos on KZbin will in no way give you an idea of how they sound. You will only be able to hear that they do produce sound (which doesn’t offer any benefit).

A cheap Dayton or whatever full range driver is all that's needed for ceiling speakers as they're not critical, unlike the main fronts. HUGE waste of money for these.
@Youthman6 жыл бұрын
If you pay full retail, I would have to agree. I was given one pair from a friend of mine and got a really good deal on the second pair which was cheaper than I could have purchased 4 Dayton speakers for.

hey brother, what happened to the svs ultra center review ?
@Youthman6 жыл бұрын
June, it's coming. I literally just finished watching Mission Impossible with my son and his friend using the SVS Ultra Towers, Center and Dual SB-16's. Honestly, the center was VERY impressive. It was what I was most impressed with from the beginning. Dialogue especially.... Will have a review coming next week. Definitely has my approval so far.

Skip the Dennon there's 3 yamaha top model Marantz top model or the outstanding winner the Anthem forget the rest they're fine but you're regret a few years down the track Anthem will still be gong strong 10 years from now and is designed to be software upgradable, how to put this it came out 3 years ago late 2015 and since then all these other companies have had 2-3 units that have been superseded by their new model Anthem has made just one but has made it so the customer isn't left with an obsolete out of date technology and can just download a free upgrade of any changes and their has been a few at no charge incidentaly.
@Youthman6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Richard. I am already leaning towards the Marantz SR8012 as I keep hearing nothing but incredible things about Marantz. Anthem as well, they are just quite a bit more expensive.
@Cybertron-cs7sk6 жыл бұрын
Youthman I know the Anthem isn't cheap but it is the heart of the system it doesn't matter how good the speakers are or how good the power amps are, if the processor is the weak link everything else suffers. Fruit from the poisonous tree if you will. If I had to cut a corner I would choose anywhere else but there. With the Anthem you get actual A/B amps for fronts and digital for surrounds that sounded as good as their separate smaller 3ch power amp, it has hands down the best calibration out there which costs $295.00 for the kit on its own and its a long term investment, that's how you should look at it. The fact is whether you do it now or after you waste money and regret it later I'm convinced that you'll get it eventually, it's not going anywhere, maybe you need to be dissatisfied first. I'm just trying to save you money and stop you making the same mistakes I did. In closing I bought the Krell which was $6,500 and while it was in service due to a faulty board they loaned me an Anthem and because it was so much better I never gave it back. I'm sure our taste is similar as I own Klipsch KL 650 THX speakers. To be continued...

Youthman on another note which projector with 3d 4k do you recommend price etc thanks.
@Youthman6 жыл бұрын
I know what you are saying but I wouldn't consider the Marantz SR8012 as being "poisonous fruit", nor would I see it as "cutting a corner". Is it the best? Definitely not. Will it sound incredible? I'm expecting it to. There will always be bigger / better and it all comes down to what are you content with and what sounds good to you and also fits within your budget. I'm not saying I won't be upgrading to the Anthem, I'm just currently leaning towards the Marantz SR8012 at this point. I have heard ARC is one of the best room correction software on the market. Truly looking forward to hearing it in my own room. As far as 4K projectors, that is something I haven't done much research yet as native 4K projectors are still way up there in price. They are coming down but I tend to stay around the $3000 price point myself.

I have 4 of these for atmos height speakers and absolutely love them. Check this link to see if you need to use the ME-800-C metal enclosures; I did use them since it was going on second floor ceiling. images.klipsch.com/ME800C_635042118497170000.pdf

Interesting. I wonder if it actually improves the sound or just prevents transfer of sound into other rooms of the house.
@anivdas6 жыл бұрын
I am not sure about the sound improvement as I have never tried without it; However, it is more of a safety requirement by code if the install is for plenum spaces.
