Today we dive into the Third in the series of "Hear with me" Segments featuring the Klipsch Detroit and the JBL Charge. We did an overview of these speakers a few weeks back. If you haven't seen it, make sure you check it out! After this we were asked why there wasn't any audio listening present in the video. Well, in this video I will explain why -- and -- despite my mixed feelings about this concept, I'll give it a go. If I'm gonna do it though, I'm going to do it a bit differently - Here's how.
What is "Hear With Me" all about? This is a series dedicated to letting you guys hear these speakers side by side in as controlled of an environment as possible.
Shot one at a time.
All shot identically.
Edge of the speaker and tip of the mic at 1 meter or 3.28 feet apart.
Each song ran through 3 times at 50%, 70%, and 100% volume.
Same 6 tracks.
Same mic.
Same room.
Same distance between the mic and the speaker.
Same everything.
Check it out and let me know your thoughts in the comments!

This is a perfect example of how all speaker comparisons should be done. Keep up the good work, Bud 👌🏽

It's seems at higher volumes the JBL starts to feel compressed and limited on range where the Klipsch started to stretch its legs a bit. Cool video.

Thanks and thanks for watching. Yeah it was an interesting one for sure. One of my favorite compares so far on the channel.

I got a couple Austins so I could keep listening to my podcasts as I wander around the house. Mostly great but they won't "broadcast" and a few other huge issues.

Thats no good. What kinda issues are you having with broadcast mode? May do a tutorial on in some time in the near future. Instructions aren't the clearest.

I have the Austin and the Nashville. They are both amazing, as all Klipsch products are. I can only imagine how awesome the Detroit sounds in person. The Nashville actually rivals my Klipsch "The One" bookshelf speaker. I do have to say that the secondary features are subpar at best. The Klipsch connect app sucks, and the broadcast mode is a huge pain in the ass. It takes at least a dozen times to actually work.

Thanks for watching! Love the sound of both. I really like the 360 sound of the Nashville. The Detroit can fill a huge room though. Both sound great and both for sure have their use cases. As for the app - I had some trouble getting it to function at first as well. I think the directions are lacking a bit...to say the least. I may make a video on broadcast mode in the near future to help some people out because...once the kinks are worked out, its pretty awesome and sounds great.

I have both too and the Austin has more sound clarity than the Nashville

The klipsch battery is kinda meh. How’s the battery life compared to the JBL extreme3 ?

Honestly depends on use case. If you're full volume constant, either one will have rough battery and both will be better the more conservative you are. Honestly, I think the Klipschs tend to be a bit better but only slightly. For the most part fairly similar.

I went on Crutchfield’s website, & according to the specifications, it states 15 x 2 wattage for the Detroit. I hope this isn’t accurate. $299.99 for a 30 watt speaker? They can do better for that price. I’ve never listened to it, & I’m sure it sounds good, but it still doesn’t change the fact that it’s a 30 watt speaker for $299.99.

Not looking at the specs at this moment but, honeslty-- doesnt really matter. Not sure why people are so hung up on wattage. Could have 150 Watts into a super inefficient speaker vs 50 into a efficient one and the efficient one will take the cake. Gotta look at a speaker as a whole instead of just the individualized numbers. If it sounds better, it sounds better. If it has more output, it has more output. The spec sheet doesn't change that. My 2 cents anyways.

@@AudioInsideScoop If it's going to be used as an in - home speaker sure, that's perfectly fine. At the same time, when talking about size, overall portability, price, & last but not least VOLUME. When using a speaker outside, you lose certain sound characteristics, which is when volume plays a big part in conjunction with it's overall size & price for value of those portable watts. For the size, power & price of the DETROIT I'd use it inside only, getting the most out of it over the course of years. Like I said, I've never listened to it, & I'm sure it sounds really good. At the same time, for outside use there are other options out there that are considerably cheaper, providing you with more volume & or loudness, which is vital in outdoor situations.

@@AudioInsideScoopabsolutely correct about efficiency. Also speaker handling power, enclosure design, and so much more comes I to play. A lot of cheap high wattage units clip and max volume or sound like a super loud cell phone speaker with no clarity whatsoever. But not everyone has the same ear. If they think a cheap speaker sounds as giidvthen by all means go cheap and save your cash. For me, so many small and cheap units are like nails on a chalkboard.

Already had the Klipsch Austin for the past 4 months and recently purchased the Nashville. Hate to say the Nashville lacks the clarity of the Austin. Even in the bass department the Austin is almost on par with the Nashville.

Thanks for watching and for your input. Considering covering this/doing a compare within the same brands if it would be of interest to anyone. See what you get when you move up in the product line and if its worth the upgrade.
