@@riggs20 I'm not 100% sure. KLM used to land 747's there. My guess is there weren't enough passengers to fill a 747 going in there anymore. Also it's difficult enough for smaller jet liners landing/departing there. Just wasn't a need for it. It's unfortunate for the people who liked watching such a large plane from the beach there, but what you going to do? 🤷

It could happen although extremely unlikely.... It has happened before... Asiana flight 214 at KSFO... This airport however surely has a long "runway threshold" to make sure planes are not too low on this approach.

I was at St Martin at that time! 😁 One of our best trips! We stayed at the Riu Palace St Martin which was destroyed and closed after the hurricane Irma devastated the island. It has now reopened as a Secrets I think!
