Hey everyone! Today we have a very special DOUBLE unboxing for you featuring the KLOS Apollo and Apollo Pro bass guitars. Basses with composite necks have always been reserved for those with big wallets. Modulus, G. Gould, Status, etc. are all known for making killer basses with composite necks and gigantic price tags. New-comer KLOS has taken the market by storm with their relatively affordable Apollo and Apollo Pro basses. Made in the USA and featuring carbon fiber necks, premium hardware, and quality electronics, both models look excellent on paper... But we all know stats don't mean everything. How do these basses hold up? We're giving our first impressions in this epic double unboxing! Let's do this!

Great unboxing Lobster! I love the dark one! Hopefully they do 5 string or one day soon, I agree when I would watch videos of them before I absolutely hated the tone but your review they sound amazing!! I really dig the active fishman pups! Can’t wait for the full review!

The standard's pickups are only a little "blanketed-tone," but still fairly crisp. Good on them for managing that.

I just moved to Salt Lake City and it is really neat watching this video. I spec'd out the bass on their site and was like why is it ready in 4 hours for pickup?? lol

We keep a small inventory of popular models, so some instruments are ready for pickup very quickly! But others may need to be put together from scratch and will need a week or two to be fully set up and inspected. Reach out if you have any questions!

Looks nice and I like the CF neck (I'm a CF fan). The base model if it came in a 5 would be interesting, especially if there was only say a 10% increase.

The have some clear Modulus mojo in their tone but I think that suited the active Pro better.

They are truly beautiful. Love the brown finish on the pro. Never seen a bass with a carbon fiber neck. The only difference from what I see, other than the color, of course, is the the pro appears to be an active bass and the other a passive. Looking forward to the reviews.

Jeff Gould collaborated with Alembic when he first started creating the CF neck. He eventually went on to form Modulus.

I didn't measure the nut width yet, but they do have truss rods!

I always loved what klos stands for, making durable well built instruments. Although For my style of music and as a person, their material choices result in a ultra clean Chrystal clear sound which I don’t really like. Their basses do sound the dirtiest of their clean sounding instruments though I’d say.

I'm really surprised that someone didn't come up with the detachable neck idea a lot sooner. Spector did have a detachable neck model this year but I haven't seen it for sale. Where can we buy these babies?

Do you neck screws go into those threaded metal insert deals? If the neck is going to be removed a lot, I would think that would be ideal.

Yes! They use threaded inserts in the neck for longevity.

Thank you! I guess the biggest difference is the threaded inserts in the neck which won't wear as much when constantly unscrewing and screwing the neck screws into straight wood

Though our basses are great for traveling because of the bolt-on neck design, they are not travel basses! Our basses are meant to be used as a primary bass for at-home play, on the road, or in the studio. We put tons of work and care into providing the best sounding and playing bass we can!

I saw a shit ton of demos of randos on here getting sent this bass all over, everyone and their mother, and they all sounded like absolute dookie...then I listen to your demos of the two basses and they sounds extremely good, like REALLY good. The other demos from others made me hate the bass ngl but the tone on this one is just mint.

Rob is considering himself semiretired at 67 years old but says he is not throwing in the towel just yet. Hopefully the company can continue on at some point bc to lose such a great luthier and product line would be criminal.

Clumsy presentation/packaging, and I fail to see how this is a "travel bass" when you're still having to screw the neck on via 4 bolts and string it up. (That's like saying a Fender J or P is a travel bass, 'cause you essentially have to do the same with any bolt on neck Fender). Decent sounding basses though.

Solid feedback. I think the threaded inserts on the neck help as they won't wear out like drilled holes on a neck (obviously still not a real problem IMO as few are removing the neck that often, and those holes can be repaired easily)... but yeah I feel you. It's still the same assembly process.
