Omg If i had a call from Sparks needing their central heating pump replaced , I’d die of the honour. Good for you - makes work really worthwhile meeting interesting people for once but meeting fave artists or musicians is a million times cooler in my book - ‘ Many of today’s’ Celebrities ‘ can F off but these are serious composers of their time and icons of the 70s . There’s a story from a girl whom worked in a newsagent around the corner from bbc centre - Ron came into the shop for Ciggies & the assistant ran and hid in a cupboard ! 🙄regards from Wessex

Here's one for you Frank.....My Dad was Ringo Starr's Chauffeur at the end of the 60's. He drove all of the Beatles as well & thier wives, on call, 24 hrs a day. Before that he was a taxi driver & after that he & my mum set up their own taxi business. The fact that as a teenager I became a huge Sparks fan is spooky in a way as both bands obviously really liked & respected each others.

Fcuking love Sparks. Amazing to think that at the time of this Ron was 72 and Russell 69 - Still producing great music and still touring and,unlike so many bands not just slogging the old shit but always bringing out great new stuff. I've been a fan since Kimono My House.
@ggiantleech

Great point about "great new stuff." How many bands of their longevity are still touring but doing anything other than just rehashing ancient hits like an unchanged jukebox? Sparks are always new and inventive while bands like the Rolling Stones haven't haven't had a real "spark" on inspiration since 1980. Considering all of that, Sparks may very well be the most aptly named band ever.

The interviewer also asked him what's the secret, that he and Ron still look so good and Russell answered, it's good genetics, the Californian lifestyle and being "kind of really vain". When i was a little kid, my oldest sister used to play the album Angst in My Pants incessantly. The one track I've played over and over through my life is "I Predict," and then today by chance "Eaten By the Monster of Love" showed up in my feed. OMG how could I have forgotten that song? Or any of the others? They are friggin' hilarious. But honestly as a child they were just fun to sing and I had no idea what they meant LOL. I've got to make it to one of their shows. Definitely going to see the docuentary.
