I have a dilemma about choice one of two motorbikes. Please advice which one is easier to budget maintainance and more attractive in light offroad/to dual sport purposes? I know them from datasheet. Kawasaki, KLR600, 160 kg, looks softer. I have the opportunity to buy a 1983. We have 2024...so it's 41 years old... Yamaha, XT600 3tb, 175 kg, probably has a better power / torque on low revs. I have a chance for 1994, but it's still 2024. So i's 30 years old... Two different bikes on advertisemens, both seems well maintained. Could you advise? I need some recognising: How about parts and availability? How about the maintenance intervals -are particularly different? Thank you for your substantive answers! Regards!

XT has more grunt, wich is more likeable for my taste. Otherwise both bikes are really cheap to maintain. KLR 600 might have problems with specific parts availability like new pistons and crankshafts. So I recommend to get a mint one. I dont know about XT600s parts availability. XT 660s parts are mostly available as KLR 650s parts. XT600 has oil/air cooling so riding in very hot conditions might be a problem. KLR600 has liquid cooling and dual front radiators, so no problem with that. KLR 650 has only one radiator and occasional boiling in hot conditions is a downside. In conclusion, I would go with one in better technical condition if the price range is the same.
