Same thing just happened to me, my KLR I just got left me stranded after putting like 100 miles on it. Thought the air box would just pop out, but thanks to your vid I now know what to expect! Thanks soo much for this vid! Gonna pull off subframe now

Thanks for the how-to. Same issue here. Picked mine up this past weekend, only I've already put 180 miles on it. It runs fine, but I was digging in there to put the tank vent tube back on and low and behold, an oily, gooey, blob of foam pieces.

Thanks, I needed this on my ‘18 to replace the air box. It looks very similar.

Seeing this gives me a better idea at how to get to the top bolt on the rear shock. Thank you.

Wow, your right, sure seems it should come out without removing the entire rear subframe. Thanks for posting. Very valuable.

It's possible to take out without remove the entire subframe ?

great video, i had the same issue. guy i bought the bike from said it was good, and i didn't check it. unfortunately for me, i rode it long enough that the dirt damaged my cylinder walls and i had to do a complete engine rebuild!

How did the engine rebuild go. I think the same thing happened to me. Ran fine when I got it drove it home stop on the way home. I overheated it.

I broke the filter mounting tabs bought a new airbox from E-bay i dont remember it being that hard i found a few shortcuts getting in mines 07 ? I already had aftermarket exhaust so that was one thing that made it easier.

Would love to know how you cleaned that metal screen. I was disappointed when I could not remove the top of the airbox to get at the screen.

looks like that main frame would be fairly easy to make a "bolt on hardtail" for with all those mounting points, and not have to destroy ability to restore original configuration
@theelusivedillinger3 жыл бұрын
Can you remove the box entirely and keep it off?
@seymourplaisir2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can . There's a few KZbin videos on them
