In 1976 a group of Crested Butte, Colorado locals, as a response to the Aspen locals invading town on their motorcycles after riding Pearl Pass, decided to answer with a ride of their own. Only this little ride was on Fat Tire Clunker Bikes. The "tour" got noticed by some west coast folks and grew over the years into a mountain bike tradition. This is a video of I think the 6th year. The Mountain Bike industry was still in its infancy so some of the bikes were still hand built from parts and pieces.....
