Fantastic looking bike! I'm not sure why, but yellow and red just seem to go together well. I like it! Hope it rides as well as it looks! Thanks for sharing and have a great week, you two!

Thanks. Glad you like it. I wasn't sure about the red and yellow. Different for sure. You have a great week as well.

Cool build! Some bmx bars would look sick on it! 🍻
@Locojoe6 ай бұрын
Thank you. I guess I didn't include it in the video but I do have bmx bars I considered. I really like the look but I like a little more of an aero riding position. I just feel like I'm a sail catching all the headwind when I ride with more upright bars. Thanks for watching.

i love the shape of those old frames. I tried building a couple but was somewhat discouraged by difficulty of doing basic upgrades like adding a modern seat due to the fact that the seat post was too skinny. i think i will buy a newer one next time but with that same old classic shape. cheers!
@Locojoe6 ай бұрын
Very true. Seat post probably being the biggest obstacle. I'm on the smaller side I suppose so I can get by with it but I can't imagine going any higher with the seat post. I too some day nay build up a klunker from a newer classic style frame. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I really liked the home brewed drop out alignment tool. Also - big fan of handlebar options 2.
@Locojoe6 ай бұрын
Thanks. Yeah I like those handlebars also and seriously considered those. IDK why but I always seem to end up with straighter MTB type bars.

05:50 Have a buddy that did a klunker build with that same frame. He was wondering if his fork was bent, just like you were. When we were looking at photos online from people who had the same old forks, theirs looked to have a slight bend to them as well. Not sure what that means, if anything at all. Just came to mind when you mentioned that yours seemed to be bent. Also, I honestly liked those light blue forks, before you took off the paint. They went well together, imo. Liked the build! Loved the video! Subbd!
@Locojoe29 күн бұрын
Yeah still not sure if that fork is slightly bent or that's the way it's meant to be. In hindsight now I too think leaving the fork blue would have looked ok. Thanks for the comment and subscribing!

lol yes it did. Probably for the better though. I'm just not as keen as I used to be on single speed and coaster brake. Anymore I like a few gear options, being able to back pedal and hand brakes. Thanks for watching!

Great build! Why did you end up going with the straight fork?
@Locojoe6 ай бұрын
Thanks! Aesthetics. After looking at the bike for a bit with the curved fork on it I didn't really like it so went with the straight.

At 1:21 in the video I see 2488 on the head badge. So i think that's the 248th day (Sept. 5) of 1978. Considering the yellow colorway, maybe a Heavy Duti? I did not re-research head badge date codes before making this comment.

I watched the whole thing in anticipation… Questions, What shop did you work in? What was Nova doing to bend a fork-nose wheelies? Was the riding position to far forward and did the seat actually do the job. Inquiring minds want to know.
@Locojoe6 ай бұрын
I'm just building the bike up in my garage if that's what you're asking about the shop? Yeah I'm wondering about the bent fork. No nose wheelies that I recall lol. Maybe smacked a curb or 2 head on. As for the riding position... I finished the bike Thursday I think it was but still haven't gotten around to riding it yret. Maybe tomorrow.

Hi I was wondering what you used as the adapter to install the rear brake? Thanks

I don't know what you would call it but it's a piece off of a cantilever style brake. Here's a video explaining it a little... kzbin.info/www/bejne/eISll6Wji9minLcsi=GIEX4uxfsrY2mHpJ Thanks for watching!
