It's great to see Kawasaki bring back a decent dirt bike for a fair price in today's market of high dollar machines. But yet be good enough for the money to have a good time with. Be cool to see Honda follow suit and bring back the XR400r. Modernize it some with FI but keep that same good seat, bar, peg relation that made it a nice ride and handling bike.

Great video Nick! I sure wish you could have gotten to the more gnarley part of the trail, but you gave a good representation of the bikes ability in tougher trails. I’m 60 years old and not riding at the speeds your doing, but going to be hitting slow gnarley stuff. You got good wheelie skills too! As far as the front fork springs. Do you have them set stiffer than stock? And on3 last thing. There is a 2020 KLX300R group page on Facebook. I think you might like to see what other guys are posting about the bike and I’m sure they would like what you would have to offer. Keep em coming. You have the best KLX300R Videos on the tube!

Hi Nick - I enjoyed your ride. I’m starting out on the same bike with my 10 & 12 year old boys in hot pursuit. I’ll live vicariously through you as I take on the trails much slower for now. Wifey or wheelies? Wifey for now lol-jk. Our first ride was Badger Flats and this afternoon we’ll try Slaughterhouse 20 minutes away in Bailey. What trail is this? Looking forward to seeing more of your rides.

So, is it like a reliable bike that can do mx? What will you have to do to it, adjust the valves? Have fun, ride safe! Shoulder and leg still healing ... I would get some brush guards for your bars. They will safe your hands if you're holding on when you hit the dirt.
@weStayModest3 жыл бұрын
No, get a yz fx cross country model. I’ve taken my 300r on the mx track and it just doesn’t have the balls. The suspension is also too spongy for the track even when I tightened it all the way I’m 180lbs for reference. I love my klx but I’m being realistic when I say it doesn’t belong on a mx track.
@Nick-fs8vg3 жыл бұрын
No it does not belong on the track. Not enough power. I wouldn't not have been injured if I was even on a 125 because the guy would not have caught up to my side like that out of a corner.
@NMXP2 жыл бұрын
Idk if you figured out the springing but in my 2021 I pulled up the race tech specs for the spring and depending on weight you could order springs I had to cross reference across bikes and ended up getting a slavens Racing rear and front spring the rear was slated for ktms but was cross referenced to be the same that the klx uses and the front spring I had to cut and it worked great for reference I'm 6'5" at 275ibs

i have the same bike im just curious as to how easy your getting the front end up ? I need to learn that trick , are you just throttling hard and leaning back a little ? as I don't really see you dumping the clutch at all !
@Nick-fs8vg4 жыл бұрын
You can use the clutch but you dont have to . The bike has plenty of power of you do it right. It just takes practice. Sorry without showing you it's hard to teach you. Yes just lean back and when it starts to lift lean back and pull a little. dont lean forward.
@grindlex94 жыл бұрын
It helps to use a little kicker to compress the front forks and catch the rebound with the throttle or a quick stab and dump of clutch. I have a 2005 KLX300R that has a 1 tooth larger than stock front sprocket and it still wheelies really well, popped it up in 4th cruising around town the other night.

@Nick-fs8vg4 жыл бұрын
The bike is lean for most people. I'm riding at 6000 feet though and seems fine. I have played with the clickers and there is no fixing how soft it is at high speed riding. They do fine for normal trail riding at higher speeds, but once you decide to push into race mode you are done. Stiffer springs is the only answer

Nick. How many miles can you go on a tank of gas?
@Nick-fs8vg4 жыл бұрын
That depends entirely on your riding style and the type of terrain you ride on. I have almost ran out of gas on a 45 mile ride while riding tough trails. If you were road riding I bet you could do 70 miles.
