I worked for KMart in 1982 as a K13, pulled carts, did bagging, and warehouse work. Got paid $2.20/hr

At least I still got Kmarts. Both about 30 minutes away. Extremely sad to see these stores go. I wouldn't care if it was messy or had bug problems, I'd still go there.

I am blessed to have two Kmarts within 30 mins of me. One in Harrison Ohio and they just renewed their lease until 2021 which is a good sign. One in Erlanger Kentucky. Then an hour away (mind you with a really nice drive thru the country) is the former Super Kmart in Hillsboro Ohio. Shop at Kmart every week and Sears about every week or two. Love the Shop Your Way rewards program it beats all the other stores and can be used on their websites as well.

Me to I miss shopping in a store with water stained ceilings that are falling apart , yellow looking fluorescent lights , VCT tile floors that are peeling off the floor , water leaking from the ceilings , dated dirty bathrooms , bug problems . But the best part was shopping and looking through all the sparse inventory for all the low quality items .

I ride a bicycle to get around, so no tears are shed anytime these automobile dominated big box stores closes. I'd rather opt out of the whole thing and just shop online. It's ridiculous that parking lots take up more than half the land in these places.

I worked at a Super Kmart, before it closed. There wasn't much merchandise left and I was at the register pricing everything 25¢. My supervisor had me pour all the beer, liquor and wine down the drain.
