I'm on your 3rd tutorial, you are the guy I've been looking for. Outstanding!!!

Thanks Kevin, I'm glad these were helpful! I did these almost 4 years ago, and while the subject matter is still relevant, they're pretty dated lol, and when I made them they were originally for a few friends so I didn't have to keep training the basics over and over. I never expected they'd get this much traction on KZbin and am still surprised to see them getting comments!

I just finished watching your 3rd tutorial.. I have been trying to learn things on DCS for over a year. I have watched hundreds of different you tube tutorials on it. I have ordered the Wart Hog controller and should be getting it soon. I have found your tutorial videos as the best I have seen so far. You take your time and go slow enough there is time to look at my diagrams, pictures in the manuals which I have downloaded and you enplane things very well and simple enough for a newbie to understand. I thank you very much for the way you have went threw the basic controls and especially how you went threw the WARTHOG HOTAS and explained it. I was really getting lost and apprehensive as i read things trying to enplane it and basically just found videos of people flying with it but no good explanations on it. Thank You and Please keep up the great work and the great tutorials.. You have taught and explained more to me in the last 2 hrs as I watched your videos then I have found over the last 6 months..

Chuck Chuck thanks! You will love will love the warthog, it is an amazing controller! I'm glad these videos helped. I made them because I was having the same problem as you and was having a difficult time with all the abbreviations and systems, and I couldnt find good explanations anywhere. keep at it, it all gets easier once you understand the basics!

It's sad the best tutorial series I've found only has 238 likes. Not enough folks are seeing these.

Jeff Morse Hey I appreciate the kind words. I originally made these for a few friends so I didn't have to repeat training a bunch of guys, and I never expected to get as much attention as this, so I'm happy with my likes! I guess I could try harder on the tags to get these out there....

Mega Max Productions Glad this helped you out. I had a hell of a time getting into this sim, because they just threw a bunch of acronyms in your face and expected you to understand....
@aMegaMaxProductions9 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I find that a lot. This sim is very complex compared to what I used to use, X-Plane 10. (yes I used it for military as well :)

I was thinking about using it to center TrackIR also, can you direct me on where to find info on how to set that up?
@Kmbtkrl9 жыл бұрын
its easy. inside your trackIR software, in the options panel on the left side (where you set up all the keybinds for center, smooth, pause etc, there should be a button for "center trackIR" or similar. just click in there and hit the paddle switch on the Hotas, and it should bind it. make sure to save the TrackIR profile, and have that profile selected when running DCS
@remarkymarkable9 жыл бұрын
I followed your instructions and it did bind the paddle switch in TrackIR. However, it does not carry over into DCS
@Kmbtkrl9 жыл бұрын
Hmm. Make sure that the profile stays active whent you launch DCS. Sometime you have to check the "Exclusive" box in TIR to lock it to that profile. Also if you unplug your controller and then reconnect it, it can will confuse TIR and you have to rebind the button. Other than that I'm not sure what the problem could be.

Hi, thanks for another great tutorial. On the Thrustmaster HOTAS stick there is a lever in front of the pinky switch thatpresses another button similar to the pinky. Any suggestions on what that might be used for and how to configure it?
@Kmbtkrl9 жыл бұрын
I use it as a quick way to recenter my TrackIR. maybe a good thing to throw landing gear toggle on, or a modifier for even more buttons.

your vid are great I just got the game and trying to figure it all out, but wondering is there a un cage button for you mavericks on your hotas?
@Kmbtkrl9 жыл бұрын
the mavs are a little more complicated than just 'uncage'. basically you will have to turn them on vis the EO power on the DSMS or the MAV page, and after they're aligned, you can slew them with the slew controls and also lock them to your SPI with china hat forward long. then TMS up short to lock. Expect a tutorial on this soon!

Thank you, I'm a bms guy so now everything is way different
@Kmbtkrl9 жыл бұрын
+Gabriel Hammontree yeah. the falcon does a bunch of stuff for you. the A10 is way more hands on. biggest thing is that the falcon kinda selects systems SOI for you, where as with the a10 you have to manually switch. but you never have to uncage mavs with a10!

Just got my warthog HOTAS thrustmaster today and didn't know what the pinkie switches did. Thanks! Also do you know what the paddle is on the stick that's just below the nosewheel steering button? I can't figure it out for the life of me. Good video!
@Kmbtkrl3 жыл бұрын
On the Warthog HOTAS it's an emergency SAS disconnect switch. I use it for my TrackIR center switch. Congrats on the Thrustmaster. It's a great system!

@@Kmbtkrl Thanks! I am thrilled that it came without any defects. I kept reading terrible review after another and was horrified. Finally I asked myself when bad reviews has ever stopped me and ordered it. SO thankful for a working hotas. I was mastering the other planes with just mouse and keyboard. I will say slewing is hard. That was easy AF with my keys bound to numeric 4, 8, 5, and 6. Practice makes perfect I guess with the slew?
@Kmbtkrl3 жыл бұрын
@@sschreck the slew ministick on the warthhog is IMHO the worst part of the whole stick. I've had limited success assigning curves to the axis and playing with saturation to mitigate some of the sensitivity and jumpiness, but never have been satisfied fully. I saw someone somewhere that makes a 3d printed extension for it that apparently increases the granularity of it a bit but I've never tried it.

i hjave 1 hat on stick and 1 on throttle so i need to work out what needs modifier buttons, realisticaly i think i can only use the throttle hat for 1 thing so i dont have to take hand off stick to press modifier, i dont think i can use a button on the stick as a modifier??
@Kmbtkrl6 жыл бұрын
eatthisvr6 if you can sacrifice a button on the stick for a modifier, that would be the best. If you don't have trackir, id use the hats for dms, tms, cms, and view, if you have trackIR id use the hats for dms,tms,cms, and coolie hats
@Kmbtkrl6 жыл бұрын
eatthisvr6 remember whatever modifier you set will work for both throttle and stick.
@Scoobydcs6 жыл бұрын
that was my intention but i cant set a stick button as a modifier, only lets me choose ctrl alt etc. thanks for the advice i do have track ir so thats 1 less thing to worry about
@Scoobydcs6 жыл бұрын
it wont let me set a button as a modifier
@Kmbtkrl6 жыл бұрын
eatthisvr6 I'm not at the pc so I can't look, maybe you have to select the correct device from the list first before you can set a modifier?

I only have a single button click for the trigger,, how would you recommend mapping that? or is it really necessary, not that I don't understand the benefit of stabilising the plane before shooting.
@Kmbtkrl8 жыл бұрын
if you have an extra button you can bind "trigger first stage" to it to activate PAC-1.
