Also out of curiosity: when we render from Chrome, is the browser using more the CPU or GPU? Deciding which to upgrade when buying my next computer.

Hi Jiaqi - I got into a groove. It can be difficult juggling 3 channels plus work but when inspiration comes knocking, it's only polite to answer.

It's both. My GPU runs at 10-25% when rendering. I recently upgraded my laptop with a GTX1660 ti. It helps especially in Blender.... Also, a Chrome trick... When rendering in Earth Studio, you can open another Chrome instance and keep working while the first instance renders (don't get the "render paused" screen). You'll need to monitor it still as some other processes trigger the pause, but mostly works.

I'm currently working with a dual core i7 with integrated graphics and this Florence to Rome bike tour is taking forever for each version's render (10 hrs +). Reckon I'll put the project on hold for now and wait for when the M1X macbook come out with its own dedicated GPU

Update: I've been monitoring my processor while doing local render - it seems that the render is using the integrated GPU (10-20%) but the secondary GPU is hovering around 4-5%. Seems to be mostly CPU doing the hard work (30-70%) - I'm running i7 (10750H @2.6 with 32GM RAM, Intel integrated graphics and NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti w/ 6GB, and 1.5TB on 2 nvme m.2 SSDs)

Great tutorial. The problem I am having is the photos and JSON file import fine but when I import the KML it adds the GES_Path but the route isn't visible at all. Any ideas ?

These are fantastic thank you. I'm trying to develop instructional videos for student pilots and the circuit patterns around the airports. I'm having trouble with the tracking points and flight paths in blender though. I've set them up in a similar way that you have, however the keep moving off target during the animation. Any suggestions?

I've noticed some issues with the JSON file when produced via rendering. Use the file > export to create another JSON file and see if that does the trick (also, camera field of view should be 20)

Aviation altitude is always quoted in feet. Can this be changed in the software?

If you have a KML file, the underlying data will be in meters for altitude (standard KML format).

It depends on the kml structure. I usually open in Google Earth Pro (desktop version) then save as a kml file (not kmz)

Yes, of course. I did it thanks to Imagiscope ! Use the GPX file in Google Earth Studio, and follow this hepful video. For example, I use this tutorial to make this video using a real GPX file captured of my real flight : kzbin.info/www/bejne/fp6zY2tqbbSjesU , but pay attention that, for small flights as I did, as the GPS position is captured every 2 seconds (depending of the GPS recorder you use), you will have to manually correct the path, because the nose of the plane deviates too suddenly every 2 seconds. Hope this helps !
