By the way, GMC dealer charges minimum $1200, most shops charge about 1000 for one side

I just helped my son do this tonight. Took us about 3ish hours and you nailed it on the head. Not hard but knuckle busting frustrating. “ watched the video after we finished “ lol

That's awesome, lol! I think a 2nd set of hands definitively helped. Thanks for the comment.

Going in through the wheel well should be easier then on top of the engine

Yes, some can get it that way. I did try that on both sides....I got close, but was not able to get it.

Did you have an air wrench? I can’t break the 3rd bolt (closest to the firewall) off the frame. We’re the other 4 into the block as difficult?

Man! Everything you said I lived.! My whole front is sore, dropping sockets, different wrench configurations. Even the getting halfway through it and thinking what did I get myself into.!! LOL good stuff!

Why not just go through the wheel well

Some have had success with that, but I couldn't get it to work.

Is the heat shield necessary?
@KMLTimesTwo2 жыл бұрын
I think the older designs didn't have them and the heat cooked the fluid inside and hardened the rubber. I would keep them on if it were me.

@@acres90 Not sure if you tried at all yesterday, but getting it in....is a HUGE pain!!!!! Just know that going in and it will help, lol. Take your time and try many different ways, etc. You might try getting them both in at the same time if possible. I did one at a time and I think it may be easier with each one unbolted. That said, be careful doing that. I have never tried it and not sure if there is any negative to doing so.
