LYRICS: "Refugee" If I was gonna be free, I'd have to change my name Mama don't feel shame, somebody call me refugee My old name was all wrong, I've waited for so long To decide my destiny, somebody call me refugee Somebody call me refugee I am I am And I walked a long way I am But I was not at all alone I am Whole city gone astray I am Every suitcase held a home Somebody call me refugee Somebody call me refugee Somebody call me refugee And I'll wear it proudly, refugee I am I am I am There's a weight inside my shoe I am Built a nest for those I grieve I am And no matter what I do I am They will always walk with me They will always walk with me Somebody call me refugee Somebody call me refugee Somebody call me refugee And I'll wear it proudly, refugee I am I am Take me I am Make me, take me I am Make me, take me I am Make me, take me I am Make me, take me I am Somebody call me refugee Somebody call me refugee Somebody call me refugee And I'll wear it proudly, refugee I am I am And I'll wear it proudly, refugee THOSE WHO HAVE COME TILL HEAR.. U ARE THE TRUE FANS OF K'NAAN❤️ .. MISSED K'NAAN .. NOW HE IS BACK... GREAT LYRICS, CLEARLY DEPICTS THE VOICE OF REFUGEES..!!🥺❤️ HATS OFF 🥰🤩

I am a 40 y/o, white, female, suburban from birth, Canadian citizen. Your music has always resonated with me. Something about it cuts deep and transcends ALL of the culture lines. Its universal. Been a fan since Dusty Foot Philosopher and I still play troubador start to finish on the regular. I check in with your socials from time to time to see if you're dropping anything new and somehow this song flew under my radar until i saw you at the Grammy's! Congratulations! Your award is so well deserved and I hope it'll be start of something incredible for your next chapter. It's wild to me how under-recognized you are. Hoping we won't have to wait another decade for something new :)
