Once in a blue moon a really great band comes along and this time we are blessed with the music of Alabama Shakes, this music is so down home, Brittany's voice is so soulful, pure raw blues, she has a lot of similarities of Janis Joplin. Amlan, She was a letter carrier and the guys all had career type jobs that they walked away from. Brittany is bi-racial. Her mother is white and her father is black. She went home from work one day and told her daddy she was going for it and she wasn't going to fail. She and one of the guys were friends in high school and used to get together after school to write songs. Her older sister died very young and she was learning to play the guitar. After her death, Brittany picked it up and it seems like she never looked back.

I think she does, but doesn't care, and that's what makes this all so incredible. She is one of the most incredible vocal talents to come around in a long time, but the rest of the band deserves some attention as well.
