Knee arthroscopy (meniscus shave, chrondroplasty, and lateral release) last week… While I could walk the day of (with stiffness and mild pain/discomfort) I used crutches with *some weight bearing the first two days. By the third day, I was walking with minimal pain/discomfort and stiffness, and had a near normal gait pattern. I’m at day 6 and have essentially no pain/discomfort, very little stiffness, and have been able resume all normal activities (minus working out to the level I did before). PT exercises and stretches (2x daily), frequent icing, and walking have helped tremendously. I was told 6 weeks for full recovery from my osteo (based on my age, fitness/health, and activity level)… I was extremely skeptical at first, but am now rather optimistic. BL based on my experience - Pain, stiffness, and recovery are relative and will differ from person to person.

How old are you if you don’t mind me asking I’m getting a clean up of my meniscus in December and took 2 weeks off work I hope that’s enough time to recover I don’t do nothing heavy or crazy at work I’m 33
@joekay3348 Жыл бұрын
@@clzo9172 44… I’m 10 weeks post-op and have recovered to close to 100%. I have returned to all normal/routine activities, with virtually no pain or discomfort. The mornings my knee can be slightly stiff, but loosens up with 10-15 minutes. While I’m not a doctor, I would think two weeks off work is more than enough time to recover to a functional level… PT, daily stretching/range of motion exercises, and icing/elevation work wonders for recovery.

This is very helpful. I had abrasion chondroplasty patellofemoral joint surgery done a week ago. After removing the dressing and bandage yesterday, my knee looks so swollen and still is very tender. I was never given any exercises to do but I was encouraged to get on my feet every now and then to promote blood circulation. My follow up appointment is next week, Tuesday. I will mention to him these exercises. They look like they will help a lot. By the way, what is the recovery time after such surgery?

Surgeon: How can I help you Patient: I got a little bit of knee. I want you to make the knee pain permanent, I want to be unable to walk properly, I want to develop knee arthitis, I do not want to return to the sport I used to do. Surgeon: No problem, I've done that plenty of times, for plenty of people Patient: Oh good, with that package, I should be able to finish it off and develop a serious depressive disorder

Thanks for sharing this, that's one of the reason I've cancelled this surgery so far. I have loose bodies in my knee, however I have full range of motion despite them being present. I'm an active person and I'm concerned about the recovery, plus removing these loose bodies do not treat the source of the problem. Could we share contacts so that I have more of your insight?

How are you now I had a knee scope and a meniscus tear. I had my surgery 4/12/24 and they said start trying to move my knee 2 days after surgery which I’ve been doing. I had my first physical therapy session 4/17/24 and I wasn’t to bad just now I have to do these things at home. But I wanted to ask someone how they felt about the swelling how long until it went down

@@jaleesaedwarda9173 Hi! So glad you contacted me. I did not have massive swelling and was able to bend my knee early on. The 1st 2 days I thought I had it made, not much pain! Was I ever wrong. I think it was the anesthesia the DR injected in my knee after the surgery. But it begin to hurt a lot later. I did begin to do exercises in about 2 days. I went to PT 14 days later Believe it or not, I hurt my other knee, and will go to the Ortho next wk. I was in denial for awhile. My knee still hurts from the surgery. Did you get a Baker's cyst or a bone contusion? I did.

Full motion depends...but on operation table it will be full motion..after 2 days it will be little less say 100 or 120 depending on knee and thights muscle. But gradually continue exercises can help u to get 140 150 degree of motion which is good

@@ru2253 that I’m not sure they had me do a few exercises like knee lift with the weight, squatting, riding then bike for 3-6 minutes and some other things. They gave me a paper where I can do them at home as well. I stand on my feet 10 hours a day work, so that also helps as well as far as exercise and moving around.
